Introduction
Some time
ago, I started my own business. A general consulting firm that
focuses mainly on management consulting, interim management and quality
assurance. This opened a few more doors as well… I am able to offer some
additional services to you BMW enthusiasts as well! So, the idea of Automotive
Services is now reality! In this way, you will be able to profit from my
extensive knowledge and experience with BMW’s, combined with a worldwide
network of worthy contacts.
Collectors’ cars
Don’t we
all love these cars from yesteryear? The cars we have dreamed about when we
were young or just could not yet afford them? The cars we saw excel in racing,
the cars from the days when identity, purity and driveability were much more
important than now? It’s not too late!
There are
still many of those cars around. A result of construction
quality, fanatic owners or a combination of both. But
how to find them? Here I might be able to help you out. However, there
is a limitation: I only want to put my efforts in finding the best cars. If you
want a car for a restoration project or a cheap addition to your collection,
just don’t bother me and do your own searching on the internet. Frankly: way
too much risks and uncertainties that might cause buyers to regret their
purchase.
Then what
can I offer: I can find you the car of your dreams, in new or as new condition.
It’s there I’m sure, waiting to be discovered. You just need the right
contacts. I can find this car, check it out for you if you want, make a
detailed valuation report with professional quality photographs, negotiate a
deal and even arrange shipping… as we know many enthusiasts are living abroad
and many collectors’ BMW’s are in Germany and surrounding countries… not far
from here!
A few
recent finds: E21 Alpina B6 2.8, E23 730, E30 M3, E28
M5.
Pricing
Are these
cars or services expensive? Of course I would be the last person to tell you
that, but think: finding a good example was already difficult back in their
years, let alone now! That has its effect on prices, and so has the market
transparency caused by the internet. This means it takes extra time and effort
to find that already rare car. On top of that, the rates for these services
vary with your wishes, the type of car incurred and travelling costs, for
example.
Worth while? Yes, I’d say.
Reduce risks to a bearable minimum. And think again: are collectors’ cars
really expensive? Anyone who has ever restored a car would disagree:
restorations always have their financial setbacks. In 99% of the cases you’ll
end up paying more than for a minter! On top of that, a mint and unrestored example will be worth more AND it saved you the
trouble of restoration like finding parts, running after the car body shop, not
being entirely happy with their work, and so on.
Parts
We are
lucky to be BMW fanatics. The BMW Factories are still able, with the help of
BMW Mobile Tradition, to supply at least 95% of all parts for any BMW ever
produced. In my opinion, that’s always the route to choose first… get OEM parts
at reasonable prices at your local dealership. Then how can I help you out
here? Those few parts that are no longer available, or
the performance upgrades that seem to have disappeared… quite a chance I can
find them for you! Again we are talking rare goods so they’ll never be cheap.
But they are out there!
Maintenance
Any good
dealership, BMW specialist or general car maintenance business will be able to
maintain and tune nearly any BMW in a good way. On top of that, specs &
manuals can be found all over the internet. However: especially the ///M cars
need more attention! They are no stock cars that will last and last with just
fresh spark plugs and an oil change. They need extra attention as margins are
tighter and in some cases even factory margins are too wide! They also have
their specific issues. To put it shortly: here Automotive Services can help you
out as well.
