I've now got the M20 in.
I'm after some help with the wiring as it really is my downfall, I'm useless at it!
Anyway, does anyone have a guide as to what needs doing? Or better still is there anyone local to Manchester who would be willing to lend me a hand one evening/weekend?
Thanks in advance

Murrans thread is the key ingredient here. That's how I did mine (with on site spannering help from Murran!). Are you wiring the c101 socket to the car or just the engine loom to the e21 fusebox via the e21 plug?
I am obviously local and have a working M20 motronic swapped car you can look at (on SORN in my Dads garage at the mo though). I am however always busy and am working this weekend.
Read Murran's thread, check the bits in my Baur rebuildathon thread and PM/call me when you get stuck.

I also found this useful for checking the ECU and wiring after the install:

This is quite useful as well:
Don't forget the E30 engine loom needs power and earth.
Power would normally come from the starter motor terminal. Which is fed from the battery.

Jim, I was planning to wire the loom to the E21 fuse box plug.
I'll have a look through the threads and try to put together something that will get me going. I can already see the help thread being written!

My Baur will be getting taxed on 1st April so can drive round to yours after that.
The wiring bit is actually pretty easy, just the stuff like the various plugs that can be swapped and sensors that can play up that cause issues.

That would be massively helpful, thanks Jim.
I'm going to make a start on it this weekend hopefully, so fingers crossed it'll go okay.

Need to know what ECU and loom you have, what year car is it from? What's the ECU I gave you, could be ECU and loom are incompatible...

I've no idea what year the loom is from, I asked the breaker for a loom from a Motronic 1.3 car.
ECU is has the code ending 380.

Sorry I won't be around to help, been busy with Family stuff and am setting off for Cadwell park now. Don't have a gap in my schedule this week either.
In terms of fixing it quick, JAmie knows an auto sparky, or there's the garage in Sale Moor that should be able to suss it.
Speak soon
