Hello, i have the following problem. My exhaust manifold cracked so i searched to buy another. I have found one which appears to be quite different but definitely from an M10 engine 1600cc. So could someone tell me whether i can use this manifold that i found or not (of course by changing the tube that's next so it will be compatible with the new manifold)? The manifold that i found has the following part number: 1277917. At the pictures bellow on the left is my stock exhaust manifold (the one that cracked) and on the right is the other that i found.

Re: Exhaust manifold for 315
Can't find any references to that part no but that could be outdated by centuries already haha. But looking at the larger ports and the dual downpipe I believe it is for the 1.8 litre version of the 316. Pretty sure it fits but it also requires different downpipes, and with a bit of bad luck even a complete new exhaust. So I'd just try to source the right manifold if I were you, or have the old one repaired.

Re: Exhaust manifold for 315
Thanks for the answer. I finally found that this manifold is from an M10 engine but from en e30. So it will fit my engine but it's going to take some effort to fit a downpipe (as you said). But about what you wrote me about repairing my old manifold, is this possible? I've been told that because it is made out of cast iron, it's impossible to fix the crack and even if i get it weld, it will crack again. But if i can fix it, then i prefer this solution.

Oh I'm no expert on that, could be, if that's the case I'd just keep looking for the right manifold. Used examples shouldn't be expensive, will defo be your cheapest option. The manifold is specific for the 315 but used on all 315's both RHD and LHD, must be enough of them out there. I asked for one in the Dutch section, will let you know.

Is there a part no cast on your original manifold? Can use the current BMW part no but it is likely to be renumbered over time.

Re: Exhaust manifold for 315
Thanks very much for the help. Thankfully in the same scrapyard i bought the e30 manifold shown in the photos, today i found one for 315, in a really good condition without any cracks. So it's a happy end to this search.Jeroen wrote:Oh I'm no expert on that, could be, if that's the case I'd just keep looking for the right manifold. PS: Just for the record the part no of the 315 exhaust manifold is: 1274868.9
