Refitting The Injectors 323i
Refitting The Injectors 323i
Moving on to rebuilding the inlet and injection system before refitting the engine.
Can anyone tell me how the injectors are fitted into the manifold? Mine are loose, you can just pull them out looks like a rubber seal of some kind but I cant work it out from looking at the ETK
Help please, what do I need to order, how does it fit?

You need new rubber seals P/N 13 53 1 269 477, place these on the injectors first, then shove them into the intake manifold. Make sure to use enough oil or vaseline, it's a tight fit and you hace to press them until the rubber sits flush with the surface of the intake manifold.

Thanks Jeroen, now I have the part number and have seen a photo of it everything makes sense.
While we are on the subject, is there anything else I should replace? The last time the system actually worked was about 5 years ago!
Of course I have replaced the filter, new pump, tanks, fuel lines etc. so far. I'm now just concerned with what's under the bonnet.

I suppose I could fit a set of new injectors but it seemed to be running fine on the old ones, actually I have 2 sets of used injectors already.
I expect I'll get it started and see how how it runs, is there a reason that I'd change them if it runs ok?

It may run even better? 99% of the used injectors will be over 35 years old...

Re: Refitting The Injectors 323i
I agree, the old injectors are probably 36 years old and it may well run better with new ones.
However I'd like to get the engine running first and see how it goes, in any case I would hate to fit new injectors and then have them get clogged with residue from the 36 year old fuel distributor.
How can I clean the existing injectors?

Thanks for the information on KMI.
Having checked around the cost of checking and cleaning is not that much less than buying new ones!
