steering knuckle

Post by mcjjordan »

right so done my m52 conversion a few years ago but the steering knuckle (on end of steering column to rack) is very close to exhaust manifold.

anyone had any luck with trying parts from other models?
basically i need to eliminate the rubber disc or move it to a lower position.

Will it help if you flip it upside down? I’m mocking up my engine (slowly) and was thinking of trying that.
Otherwise I seen a conversion thread that I think was on here where they had a straight bar with no rubber disc made up.

Swapping the middle round is possible.

You have to press out the UJ joints (there is an art to doing this).
Swap round the middle
Regrease and press it back together, trying to keep all the roller pins in place.
Final thing this is to re-stake the uj's to stop them coming apart on their own.
