I went to this, what a fantastic day (I went on the Sunday).

The Alpina B6 was stunning, that was the only E21 I saw on the hill unfortunately. There was a 2002 that was awesome, such a fantastic induction sound.

What an event!

great fun- the amount of French cars and spectators was spectacular!

I was put in a post 1971 class against Barry "Whizzo" Williams and modern hot car s(won by Sierra Cosworth Turbo)- so no chance of siverware- I missed the prizegiving as I had to dash for Liverpool Docks for Seacat

Anyway herewith 1 timed run in Herman 59 seconds something in slightly damp conditions - managed a 57 seconds later (but battery in Go Pro had died):

this clip in 2CV captures the event well:

Must have been hard on the damp road. And don't you feel like the car's gearbox ratio's aren't really suitable for a relatively slow hillclimb like this? Or would it be ok in 2nd at slightly higher speeds like on a dry road?

There is also a fair bit of self preservation going on in my mind! Not just the value of Herman as being one of only 2 in British Isles but also the track conditions!
After a mini hit the wall in first damp practice and even the legendary Whizzo managed to hit the bank on his first timed run in the Renault - I had to drive 140 miles after the event to catch the Seacat back to IOM

OK so I don't mind being called a Wuss- but better that than crunching Herman -and missing the ferry etc!!!

Fully agree on that, better not damage the car! Just thought with the long 1st gear on the B6 you might have been a bit low in revs on 2nd. On a dry road a shorter diff could be of help. But hey its not a track car!
