I vaguely recall you having an E21 at some stage Jason, but it's fading from my memory now!

As much as I want too, I don't think I can afford it. I would of been coming in my E30 318is anyway!

Good news - BMW UK have just confirmed,

they are bringing six 'interesting' cars and some of their latest products for us all to admire.

.. form an orderly queue now please, and remember I'm at the front and they may not get the keys back - lol!

I hope some of you guys will come along to support myself and the slug out on track. Jason will be in some sort of late model modern 3 series rather than a proper one. Slug and I will fly the flag for the original model.

Well it's 8.34am and pouring with rain. :( Gonna give it an hour and see if it eases off before I decide whether to drive the 80 miles to Silverstone or not?

+1. What a great idea by the CC to have the national trackday in Autumn.

EDIT: And now here's the weather. If you're reading this in six months time the weather will no doubt be fabulous, but at time of writing it sucks.

It dried out later in the day.

Sadly Jason's e30 died so he came in a 540 with a flat tyre.

I had a nightmare day getting there yesterday - flat battery in towcar, jockey wheel on trailer broke, stuck in traffic jam 2 hours whilst picking kids up etc. Then my Wife got a letter saying she's losing her job. Drove down, got to hotel, slept, drove to the track.

Pissing with rain and tons of marbles and oil on the track from 24 hour race at the weekend (Lotus trackday yesterday had people going off on novices slow sighting laps!).

Engine wouldn't rev past 4000rpm, unsure what's wrong. Thought I had it fixed at lunch, but still no revs. Dangerously slow, plus slippy as hell on track. Loaded trailer by 1430 and drove home.

When I got the car off the trailer it revved past 4k as usual.

How many road miles to get there and back - 300 ish

Spent £500 ish including fuel etc.

Track miles -13.7

Sorry to hear that Jim. £36 per mile! Ouch! It didn't stop raining here till lunchtime and I figured I would be better spending my money on underseal than petrol to stand trackside in the wind & rain. I imagine Jason is still on the motorway somewhere?!

Jason has the joy of a room in a travelodge in Burnley to look forward to, booked on the basis of a work meeting there which has now been cancelled!

Just back in the hotel and the afternoon stayed dry so managed to improve the lines and get a bit more pace just frustrating not having a real car

Alex Elliot was there with his batmobile very nice and nearly worth the grief it took to get there and having a lap behind it was great and jim I won a keyring
