So as part of a 3-week tour of Thailand we were also able to have a meeting there. With help from CK, webmaster of BMW Classic Thailand (http://www.bmwclassicthailand.com) a meeting was set up on short notice.

So I was already impressed to see 5 classic BMW's parked when we drove up, but they just kept coming! In total 16 classic Bimmers turned up: 2000 NK, E3, E12, E28, E30 and 8 pcs E21's! Met CK and his wonderful E12 and also long time forum member Pitisak with his mint E21. All nice cars and enthusiastic and kind owners! After a lot of tire kicking, small talk and photos it was time to sit down at the riverside restaurant for a genuine Thai dinner, with nearly all participants! Great conversation over good food and the occasional beer. After dinner we drove Pong's beautiful 320. The M10 on Webers sounded good across nightly Bangkok!

Pong also showed us around Bangkok for a couple of days and was great company which truly contributed to make the stay in Thailand perfect. A few days later we flew over to Chiang Mai where we also met up with forum member Att for a great night out. Thanks to all in Thailand, it was a true pleasure meeting you. I hope to be able to add a photo report of the meeting here in a couple of days, but the photos can already be found on the Facebook page and group. Will make a brief separate topic on the rest of the trip later as well. For now, I'll leave you with a little teaser from the meeting.

These gentlemen wanted a Baur, but never being imported there it is hard to get one registered. So they're building one E30 Baur themselves at the moment!

Time to call it the day, but in style by taking Pong's carbs -and the rest!- through nightly Bangkok!
Once again, many thanks for a wonderful reception and a great day!

A little bonus: E21 seen in the wild in the streets of Bangkok the next day!

Image

And one more, we saw BMW testing their latest prototype in the streets of Ayutthaya!

I missed something :)
I do like the speedometer, which is red lined from 120km/h!
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Thanks guys, yup to have a meeting like that all the way over there was really amazing. We have to thank the active Thai community for that, but it was great to meet enthusiasts with the same mindset all the way over there, and to meet long time forum members like Pitisak (and Att at a later stage as he lives further north). Thinking very much alike and yet live so far apart, then you have to grab a chance like this!
