Little by little with 320i 1/77

Post by 3771489 »

Hi!
I think that I don't need explain nothing more (with my imperfect english  ). Photos lies better. Photos: http://kuvablogi.com/nayta/658414/.
There is one photo of Recaros (those with stripes). Does anybody has any information about those. Manufactured 9/77 (stamp at bottom). I have seen Recaros with similar stripes, but different shape (mean model). And yes, there are speakers in headrest. 8)

That certainly is good work but on the reality step, all the time and money spent that really is uneconomical move, i wouldnt do all that, i would go as far as changing the side sills and removable panels, im sure there are a better condition cars around with a good chassis to work on! but its up to the individual on what he/she decides to do. a good chassis to work on would be the 316 because they seem to last longer than the 323i. reason: --- this is what i was told: because the 323i engine has that power to pull the car and also twist the chassis in places where the 316 cant thus causing small cracks then rust builds upon when water gets in which i believe is true as my aunt gave me a 316 and the chassis was as solid as a rock compared to my car!!!

I wish i had rebuilt the original shell for my e21 320i rhd(3/77) instead of finding a better shell to use to reshell my car as its not an original car now. my car has been in a rented garage for over 10 years i would not like to work out how much its cost me in rent/parts/panels/fuel to collect the parts ect but its my hobby!!..I am looking forward to seeing more of 3771489,s pics....edd...(ex 3781412)

rare? In 17 years of e21 ownership i have never seen another rhd 320i/4 but there were even less euro spec lhd 320i/4 cars made (1882made). loads of usa spec cars were made as the 320i was the only e21 sold in america(usa vin numbers start 542++++)...edd..

The 320i is a rare car, and I've seen maybe 2 in the last 20 years. One was in a German scrapyard! It good to see such a rare car rescued, top work.

What are the plans for mods? Uprated suspension maybe, or a complete colour change? That looks like either Topaz or Sienna brown, neither was a great colour (imo) :D
I'd go for Golf yellow on a set of the 14 inch Alpina wheels. Mint. :P

Yes it was. It was orange and was a carburettor model not the 320i. Autocar had it from BMW's press fleet in 1976/7 and gave it back in return for a 323i.

I have the logbook for it here! I ran it very briefly in @ 1989 but it was pretty knackered by then.
