Indeed but sitting in it to start it today made me think the springs are too soft - upgrades being considered already!

And a lot of the well done needs to be shared with Murran, Nas and Jacko who helped out last year with the reassembly mission, Rob Mr Edd and Jason who supplied bits, plus Shaun who did the paint. None of us though it'd drag on for this long though!

Technically my Wife Kids and everyone who knows me too!

Been having a play today, bled clutch and stomped the pedal till it worked, fiddled ICV, idles fast because the throttle stop is holding it open, sadly the end is sheared off the screw so I'll need to adjust it by other means :D Stuck a set of MIMS with Toyo T1-R's on, went for a drive round the yard. Need to refix the ECU in the glo9vebox and MOT time.

Been back this evening.

Sorted throttle stop/idle speed.
Tidied up wiring in engine bay.
Bolted ECU back in, reattached glovebox.
Found that brakes were rubbish because the booster vac hose wasn't actually properly connected - strung out into position and vaguely cosmetically attached. Oh and the one way valve was the wrong way round. - sorted.
Fitted rear light lens - thanks to Jason for supplying.
Got rid of brake pad warning by cutting wires out and connecting the relevant ones together.
Wired washer bottle.
Wipers and washers back on.
Checked lights - Need a drivers side main beam bulb, clean the overspray off the headlamp lenses.

Horrible horrible noise which appeared to be from top of engine and sounded like a cam lobe grinding itself off due to lack of oil (heard this on my Dad's old Sierra so I know the sound) traced to the alternator - slackened belt off and noise went away, obviously not charging or pumping water though. Need a new alternator and then it can go for MOT.

It then needs a bit of bodywork touching up, but nothing major.

Replacement alternator arrived today, I'll be down to the workshop in the morning to fit it. All being well I'll get the car to the MOT man straight after that.

I fitted the new alternator, but the noise was still there. Bit of head scratching and peering at it, then I noticed that the toothed wheel bit of the pulley/balancer assembly was sticking out a bit at one side - enough to squeeze the end of a screwdriver in, presumably it's shrink fitted in the first place, but this one has moved. Where it was sticking out it was rubbing on the water pump pulley each time it went around.

So I tapped it back into place with a hammer and the noise went away. Might have to get another balancer in case it falls off properly, but for now it runs nicely.

I have to fit a front sidelight bulb and a headlamp bulb.

MOT - 11AM tomorrow, couldn't get one done today.

Remaining jobs apart from the bulbs - remove drivers door card again to see why the door won't latch with the window shut, fit rest of interior trim in drivers footwell, install stereo. Wash/polish car (it still needs post paint buffing really).

Jim couldnt find the wiper covers, definitely have two headlamps complete if they're any good to you

I've taken the wiper covers off the slug, track cars don't need trim!

May need an inner passenger side light - silvering inside looks tatty, but let's see what happens with the MOT tomorrow.

Hoping the headlights will be fine. On thinking about it I'd better have a look at the alignment, don't want to fail for dazzling people.

Red sheet I'm afraid...

Bolt missing from steering universal joint.
OSR brake not working
Brakes showing 46% effort - knew they felt rubbish but I couldn't remember how they should feel in an E21!
Exhaust leaks from both sides at the back
Drivers side exhaust not mounted properly - remembered it was held in position with electrical cable while I was welding, not done it properly.
Number plate lights not working.
Brake lights stay on when pedal released.

Nearly failed on lack of filler cap, I found an M20 oil cap which did the job but car cut out while being MOT'd - suspect it needs a vent hole, or I need a proper one.

Advisories on front tyre at 2mm - track day tyres used at Croft!

SHould be able to sort most of it myself but have no time now, thinking either get Murran over on Sunday or take the car to Bluebell BMW in Altrincham and get Steve there to finish it off for me.

You could get Murran, alternatively there's Hugh from Cedric Motors who does my car. Honest bloke, and cheap, should have all that sorted for under £100. As for the number plate lights, I had mine sorted from the electrical wizards (not gremlins) from Levenshulme for a tenner. I need to drop of those wheels to you if you're around on the weekend.
Have a chat about it then.
