Wow, lovely and unmolested. Look forward to the mods, although I'd opt for a Clifford and not Toad. They might be better then they were a few years ago mind.

Funny you should say that, I ended up going with a Clifford system in the end, works great with the remote door locks. I won't talk about the other security features installed for obvious reasons!

So a little update, it's been about a YEAR since I bought the car, and only now am I happy to say it's a 'proper' daily driver... took longer than planned but just had a big whole-house renovation going on, including creating a parking space for 'The Germans' :)

So here's the original list I posted of work I had planned, it's almost done!

- Clutch master cylinder - DONE
- Clutch slave cylinder - DONE
- Brake master cylinder - DONE
- Full stock exhaust - DONE
- Service including: - DONE
- Cam belt and tensioner - DONE
- New plugs - DONE
- Filters all round - DONE (except fuel)
- Oils and fluids - DONE
- Set timing - DONE
- Tune carb - (Ha, see below)
- Replace hazard light switch - DONE
- Fix interior light - DONE
- Fix electric mirrors (tips welcomed!) - Not Done!
- Replace wiper arms (could be leaking) - FIXED
- New 15" Mahle wheels - Am refbishing the stock 13's (sodablast and polish)
- Spax springs/shocks kit - Not Done!
- Fix OS stereo speaker - Half done, one side speaker still faulty
- Underseal - Decided was not needed!
- New Toad alarm/immobiliser - DONE - Clifford
- Remote central locking - DONE

And then the additional things!

- Full cylinder head rebuild
- New dizzy and rotor
- New HT leads
- New Coil
- New thermostat
- New Water Pump
- New Tyres
- Full upgrade/swap to Weber DGAS38 carb
- New throttle cable
- New throttle spring
- New aluminium radiator
- Re-jetting of new Weber, rolling road test
- Clear all screen wash lines and blow air through to fix

I'm sure there other things I can't remember! But last week it went straight through the MOT with only very minor advisories, and after a LOT of work on the idle speed (cleaning up al the earths and tweaking the air/fuel settings on the Weber) it is running very well indeed! Did our first motorway test and all was fine, pulls VERY strong now after the head rebuild, sits very comfortably at 70mph (speed limit, plenty of room left above though!!) with no rumble etc, and accelerates very very quickly too.

Things I'm still going to do:

- Renew the front brake callipers, occasionally the drivers side sticks a little
- Renew all brake hoses
- Source and install power steering (will be looking for parts, so please do let me know!)
- Renew both emblems /badges as mine are going into retirement, on the workshop wall!
- Try to source rear headrests in correct blue fabric
- Upgrade headlights to modern standards

Overall it's been a long old road, but now I'm very happy :) Thanks if you've helped me along the way, through the forum :)

Thanks, Tan. Yours has all the makings of a great car too - I'm watching your thread :)

Other updates...

I've located a PAS setup, collecting on March 28th, will try and do some updates with that upgrade... any tips or advise welcome! It's a standard e21 setup, not from e30 etc...

Cheers
Dave

Very interesting that yours has the same Moon Roof in it mine came with?

Looking forward to more updates.

Thanks Daryl! Much appreciated :)

Ah really? I haven't seen any others with my sunroof, it's a pop up, not a slider... same with yours? I gather you deleted yours entirely?

My next / current job is the brake overhaul, I have all the parts now....

Pretty sure they are the same - mine was tinted glass that popped up in back and that could be removed as hinge pins can be pulled out. Yes we removed it for two reasons first was weight and second was to not be sitting in the sun will running.

They were big here in the US in the 70's and 80's and were sold as Moon Roofs. I guess because you could see the moon at night when out parking with your girl.

I am big on good working brakes, going fast is fun but if you can not stop it as fast as you can move it - things can good wrong faster.

Yeah mine sounds very similar, if not the same. It's tinted slightly but it still gets hot in the sun! I like the 'moon roof' name, very cool indeed.

And yes, wise words there regarding the brakes!

I'm also piecing together the parts for to add in power assisted steering, have a reconditioned rack and a few other bits... still lots needed though.
