Re: bmw m52 engine conversion
darn thats looking good!!!!
yet another very quick/good looking E21 from the nas garage...
have too admit an m52 does look a lot nicer than an m30 3.5 in the engine bay... unless its got carbs on it....

Re: bmw m52 engine conversion
It’s almost finished. Took it out for a 20 mile run on Tuesday morning after we'd fitted the new TO and it’s really fun to drive. This conversion was done at my garage to my exacting standards and i think it shows in this build and I’m pretty sure Matt will be happy with it.
Every time you do an engine conversion you learn something new and learn new ways to go about things. We tried some new things on Matt’s build and got bitten (the TO bearing) and it goes to show that you should never trust what others tell you on forums as that really set us back.
We have gone the extra mile on Matt’s car and i’m a fussy bugger and can’t stand to cut corners but the more you do the quicker we should get and i'd like it to take no longer than the 2 weeks provisioned in future. I think getting my conversion finished off and doing Nas's shouldn’t take too long now we're a few conversions in.
Who wants to go on a summer e21 run somewhere in 2012?

Re: bmw m52 engine conversion
Have to say that you guys workshop is the real deal. Was great to see 3 m52 conversions - they look almost beautiful in an E21 Engine bay as far as engine conversions go! Hope that you get plenty of work and your standards continue to go from strength to strength.

Re: bmw m52 engine conversion
Thanks Arshad nice to meet you yesterday, it's crazy that i've only ever met a few of the E21 guys over the years of my ownership...
Workshop will hopefully be bigger and better soon with more facilities to make our lives easier and our conversions quicker. I think an M52 in an E21 is the perfect combination without making the car un-driveable, it's light enough to not make it nose heavy like a S50 or M30 but with enough grunt to make it fun. M50 manifold and remap makes it even better and cams, throttle bodies and increased displacement if you want more power than you can handle.
So when are we getting your E21 in for a conversion?

Nice meeting you too Jacko, and I can't give you an E21 I'm afraid that would be too easy! You guys need to work your magic on an E3 next. Watch this space

Re: bmw m52 engine conversion
I told you it was awesome!
Kinda wish I had some more time with it now so I could enjoy it myself after all that work. I just realised I didn't get chance to take any decent pics of the finished article with all the engine covers on!
