I did think that 1400 wasent to bad, but the body shop was 35 odd miles away and then wanted to one man tow it to the shop.
Just preffered something local i can keep tabs on.

any way today update:

Managed to pickup an e12 528 flywheel. only 7kg
needs blasted and surface ground.

Image

changed the selector shaft seal on the dogleg cleaned and changed to sintofluid 75w80.
Image
pick out and pop new one in.

locking collar off
and the easy way, had to turn down the socket to fit tho.
Image

picked up an e34 m30b35 engine at the weekend as well.
Image
Image

flywheels to compare
Image
e12 one fits perfect.

had a closer look
Image

turns out its got 12 injectors fitted
and 2 t25's

its been sitting a while, but the dust was washed off by the rain back home on the m77.
need a few bits straightening up. New harness, ecu of some sort. might as well go MAF as i have no AFM.
might re-route some of the oil water lines and use better braided lines.

When the booster is removed, it should fit with no modification within 1/2" or so, hopefully the steering will be o.k as well.

Strip externals and paint.

Sweet engine setup mate!

Just hope you didn't damage the gear selector rod with you unorthodox approach in removing the old seal, make sure it is free from any scratches or the new seal won't last long.

No scratches in sight! I have a surgeons hand. Haha.

535i sport converted. Machined pistons.
The stainless log manifold are keeping the turbos tight in. Which will help a lot with clearance to inner arch.

Will be a load of pics over xmas, Doors and boot are now all back on with final alignments to do. Front and rear glass will be in tonight, just need to decide on new chrome inserts or shadowline?

Rear brakes will be 295 or 300mm solid disc upgrades with twin pot 40mm piston brembo's, just collected the alloy to make the brackets.

Then onto flattening back and machine polishing. Pics are rubbish I know only had the tablet to hand.

lots of waxyol to apply to cavities as well as behind the window rubbers.

Very nice so far. I'd go for chrome - loud and proud. Shadow line just isn't my bag anymore in most cars.

Agree with Arshad, especially on these oldies. Imo shadowline window trim is able to ruin an entire restoration job.

first bit of trim fitted:

still a long way to go, lots of alignment of the doors to do, and some correction of the paint, but in the end I only paid £700 plus materials for the paint so not bad.
