Great!!! I cut out those big round holes to fit the original caps in the center of the floorboards. This looks ok, but original is better looking ;-) car won't see any snow or rain again, so it shouldn't be a problem.

What tool do you use to bend that sheetmetal?

Yes we will be cutting out the holes to fit the floor plugs, the holes are needed for draining during dip-coating.

As for tools, mostly normal hand tools, vices, lengths of bar stock (round / box section etc) etc.

my friend had the same experience with his E9, car looked normal when he bought it in italy, then...all hell went loose when he started to chisel the filler from the car.

These E9s and to a lesser exetnt the 2002s are now becoming rare and valuable enough to restore- why doesn't someone make the entire body - as they do for Jeeps:

http://mdjuan.com.ph/civilian/?model=cj7

and you can even buy an entire Camaro bodyshell:

http://dynacornbodies.com/body-shells/camaro/

ps Wish Dynacorn could make an E9 bodyshell for you!

Sorry its been a little while, still been busy working away.

Trial fitted the pedal box to get the throttle pedal position and welded the mount in:

Started work on the strut tops, first we made a brace to retain the location:

The cracked on with removing the bad metal to see what was needed, I was a bit slack with taking photos so things may jump about a bit:

After that was all back together we removed the whole front panel to replace the splash guards and do lots more repairs on the front panel:

Cheers

Well, just realised we missed taking pics of quite a bit (was busy with the E21 - must update that as well).

The front panel went back on and we repaired the front wings before getting them back on.

First pic was a coffee break before the second wing went on:

We also went round the rest of the shell fixing bits and bobs like this extra hole in the rear panel:

Cheers

F... rust :(
You don't know how much you have to cut off until you start scratching... And there is more and more and MORE of it.. :(

Nice to see you know the job and you are not afraid of do it as it should be done.
I'm looking forward to see it back on the wheels and with 0% of rust on it.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.
