For the 245/10 or /11 M20 dogleg that partno should be 2331 1 539 086 should cost abt € 7, don't forget to replace the oil seal.

Re: How do you recognise a sport 5-gearbox
Thanks a lot Jeroen, you're a huge help. Do you also know the part number for the 242 5 speed dogleg. I'm bit confused which box I have, 242 or 245.
Thanks you.
Thanks you.

Re: How do you recognise a sport 5-gearbox
Marcin, as described in the whole topic, the 242 cover might also be fitted to a 245, 242 is the 4 speeds short gearbox. For the 4 speed the part no is 2331 1 206 981.

Re: How do you recognise a sport 5-gearbox
is the front gearbox cover from the 5-dogleg replacable by a cover from a 4-speed? (the front part of the gearbox)
since my dogleg has a hole and some deep slidmarks from something i guess has been a blown clutch..
the marking says 242, but according to ETK the cover from the dogleg-5 is not the same as the 4-speed cover...

Re: How do you recognise a sport 5-gearbox
I can't remember where (getting older) but i have read somewhere that if the number on the bellhouse ends with GG it's an overdrive box.
And if the number ends with GC it's a sport box. (not officially confirmed)
Checked on two of my ECO boxes and they both end with GG.
When i really have nothing to do i will remove my sports box and check the number for you guys.....

I will change my automatic gearbox to 5speed eco. I will have a look on the market for a drive shaft 6 cilinder 4 speed and shorten it.

Re: Recognising 5 speed gearboxes
Also check the Dutch topic, I measured a difference between 4 sp and 5 sp overdrive of 2.9" and Pierre's site came up with 3.1". There are 2 M20 sports boxes and one is exactly the same length as the eco box (I know for sure as I had one that was the same length). That .2" or 4mm prolly is something that can be caught in fitting the diff but some others' measurements would be welcome! I have the right propshaft for you (4 sp 4 lug) if you want to make one custom fit.
