Picked her up today, M10 Auto slush box :rolleyes , eleccy mirrors and that's it!
Drove very nice, relaxed and wallowing in the wind :cool
Lightweight, and no, not because of rust, had a good look over and only spotted 2 small problems.
Get back from work tomorrow and start stripping the interior out.
The Blue cab has an E34 3.5 M30 engine in her for cruising:D
Well, after I got back from work, it was out with a bucket and sponge.
Took a broom and pan just in case
Paintwork is still flat atm on the passengerside as I couldn't be bothered anymore today.
After washing it, it was back inside with the bucket, oh and broom and pan, no rust to pick up
Only T-cut so far, but happy with the results.

And then started to strip out the interior, ready for the M3 rear bench and Recaro LS's, M3 Tech 2 suede steering wheel and gaitors.
Waiting on the Hartges atm , not had time to chase my mate to see if he's done all the sets.

This will be housing a fully rebuilt E34 M30b35 engine with ITB's and a Rotrex supercharger.

And also changed the seats over, after a mate had been over to install an alarm.
After a good clean and wash, went out with the missus for a bite to eat, and thought I would take the Chromie out. Looks
Todays action, picked up the Hartges, tyres on and now it's started to p1ss down

All I need now is to go fill her up, give her a quick wash, and away in the morning to the German car show.

These turned up today, not bad for £100 delivered. winkeye
Well, not much of an update as such, but I rubbed down the Jimmy Hill and sprayed it black, but i'm not too happy with it.
It had about 4 layers of paint on it, and I can't get the to the tight bits, so gave in finally and this is the result.
Then, thought about getting some bullseyes going.
Took them all apart, cleaned up the reflectors, sprayed the internals and cleaned all the outsides too.
While I was at it, I cleaned and sprayed the buckets, and the actuall lens surrounds, and rings, don't have any High beams yet, but all the crosshairs have been done.
Cleaned all the adjuster up too, so now they're working as they should do.
Cleaned up some "NEW" BMW OEM chrome corners i have, ordered a new chrome centre section, so just waiting on that to land and then bolt it all together.
Got hold of a very very good rear bumper too, just need to pick it up.
Looks like the 318is had some good suspension that I had for nothing.
Turned out to be a complete K&W shocks and springs
Just need to get the front shocks out tomorrow.

Started on stripping out the interior for the chromie today, haven't got a lot done but pics below.

Front half srtipped. Never knew how much the chrome bumper weighed, look at he 4x4 suspension now 8O

Doesn't look too bad, not rot really, all you see is surface and a lot of crap. just sponged out the dirt out, and left to dry.

Made these for the chromie so I have an option for full "Euro" look
Picked up a set of H&R front and Rear adjustable Anitrollbars.
Time for the Engine rebuild.

Engine stand bought, went for the 450kg one as there was abotu £5 difference in price.

Tomorrow, head off and strip it ready for a pressure test and 1/2mm skim.
If funds allow, i'll have it flowed too.
Head off, rocker shafts removed, rockers and cam out too.
Head now booked in for Monday for a pressure test and a 1/2mm skim
I'll take out the valves on Monday for those eagled eye fookers!
Pistons look to be OK, and the bores look good too, can still see the honing marks on them.
Looks to have been running rich though.
Block will be wired down and painted.
Gave the head in on Monday for a pressure test and skim.
Pressure test was good, and a skim of 4 thou wasa only needed.
Picked it up this morning, removed the valves, and the guides and gave it a quick clean.
Removed the lower timing cover (Covered in years of oil baked on
)
Removed the sump, again covered in years of oil, and got cleaning.
Inspected the chain, all looks good there.
Looked into the chain guides, and there's heavy scoring of both, so new ones will be ordered soon.
Removed the Oil pump and then started on the bottom end.
Forgot to take pics towards the end of the day, but looking at the shells, the all need to be replaced, and tomorrow, it'll be removing the bearings to inspect those too
Lovely brand new Light billet flywheel, takes the E34 clutch.
Looked into the bottom end shells and big end bearings
Not good, slighty worn and will need to be replaced, so ordered they were.
Cleaned up the face with wet'n'dry and taped up.
Removed the shells and crank and pistons
And left it at that.
Tomorrow, it's clean up time, and painting the block.
Today, I started on giving the block a good clean with degreaser and a wire brush attachment onto an electric drill.
All the surface rust and 20 year oil was removed, then washed down with warm soapy water and left out in the sun to dry off.
Then, sprayed Black, covered up all the water inlets, oil inlets, and masked off the block face with masking tape.
The eagle eyes ones will notice the core plugs painted too, don't worry, they're getting replaced too, just didn't want to replace them sooner, then have to mask them up while spraying the block.
Hear back off my mate who's doing the Bodywork and respray.
Emailed him with a pic of the colour i'm looking to do the Chromie in.

Finally I have front fogs instead of the giant holes in my front valance & the correct lip (I had an iS lip on the car for a little while, but it hit on the driveway of my place & eventually smashed to pieces).
