Barn find 320 clean up

Post by Dan320is »

I thought it was about time to start a thread on my barn find 320.
I saw this car in a friend of a friends uncles barn where it had been since 1996! Before that the car was bought new by a chap in Newmarket who used it for nine years and then stopped using it a left it in dry storage in a stable, then bought by the chap I bought it from who had had the car repsrayed and fitted new lights, trim, exhaust etc.

To get the car ready for MOT the following has just been done:
- Cambelt & tensioner.
- Waterpump.
- Thermostat.
- Dizzy cap & rotor arm.
- Spark plugs.
- Oil & filter.
- Gear box & diff' fluid.
- Servo & master cylinder.
- Calipers.
- Rear wheel cylinders and shoes.

I got the car back to mine Thursday so today was spent with car up on axle stands, degreaser, brushes and the pressure washer. I'm quite chuffed with the result, have a gander below:

More photo's to follow as I progress cleaning up the engine bay and move onto the interior and get my DA polisher out.

I'm sure I'll find jobs to do chap. Just getting the stuff I don't enjoy out of the way.

So far the list is:

- Clean underside - Done.
- Apply clear underseal.
- Engine bay clean up.
- Bleed coolant.
- Adjust idle to stop it stalling when changing from park to reverse or drive.
- Interior tidy and clean up.
- Respray current wheels from gold to silver.
- Snowfoam and clean all exterior trim.
- Clay paint twice.
- Compond paint.
- Glaze paint.
- Apply sealant.
- Treat exterior trim.
- Apply wax.
- Fit coilovers.
- Fit wheels.

A couple of weeks during the evenings work.
