24 Oct 15: Fall meet & drive

Post by Jeroen »

Last trip for this year before the salt hits our roads! We met up with the E21 and 5 series communities in the far south of the Netherlands for a trip of that region, combined with the northeastern provinces of Belgium. One of our stops was at Dutch Fiat dealership Brouwers who have a showroom full of… BMW’s! This former BMW dealership still maintains a wonderful collection of classic cars and contemporary automobilia. Not for sale but at least this bunch is not tucked away either! Raymond, Han and Remy organised a great day out in an excellent atmosphere, many thanks for that!

24 Oct 15: Fall meet & drive

Post by Oz E21 »

Hello from a new member on the other end of the world. What a great sight it is to see all those e21s (and others amongst them) in such a great condition and seemingly a great company. Definately looks like it was a great day. Thank you for sharing with those of us not fortunate enough to have such a strong e21 following around us. We can at least follow closely and appreciate the photos and write ups..

Thank you Jeroen and Uwbuurman, I'll be working through the tons of information you've got here.. Already started late last night and I came accross this: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3754&start=0
Dilmah 323i had shared a same first car as me, the polaris 323i. I bought it as a student in 1998 (after saving for years) and cherished it, taught my wife (then girlfriend) to drive in it (and no major mishaps) . :driving Then I got convinced to sell it around 2002/2003 to get something more convenient, and regretted it immediately. I've been looking to buy it back for years now, only to last night find out it was in an accident. :( I guess I can close that chapter now and settle with another e21, and so the hunt for a replacement starts now. Not an easy task in Aus, they're rare and the prices are skyrocketing. Hopefully I find a suitable one in the next few months. In the meantime it's research, research, research... :crazy

Haha, polaris is good as it always appears clean.
I had a very similar experience to you and your polaris with mine. It was priced more than I had saved up and had disappeared from ads by the time I had saved up the rest. I then found the 6 month old paper ad where I had circled it and gave the guy a call. Luckily it hadn't sold (probably due to high price and lack of e21 followers), but now the guy wanted more for it :wtf . We eventually settled the deal and I borrowed $500 from my parents. I still remember that drive home, my baby was Tight!! Not a squeek, not a rattle, just the ignition key jingle. No such feeling with any other car since...
