Classic Days Schloss Dyck 2016

Post by Jeroen »

This weekend! Perhaps you remember our wonderful 2015 report or the publication in BMW Car. It is promising to be great fun again, THIS weekend. One of the themes for this year is Jägermeister in racing which already will be fun. Some big names announced already, Hans-Joachim Stück, Jochen Mass, Klaus Ludwig, Derek Bell and rally legend Walter Röhrl is likely to do a demo in the Audi Quattro S1 on the Rundstrecke. More names? Ellen Lohr, Leopold Prinz von Bayern, Frank Biela, John Fitzpatrick. We'll be there on Saturday!

Oh man, the more I look, the more I want a e9. Once I will own one. But a good one is getting really expensive...

So for now I have to do with beautiful pics like this one, Jeroen! Thanks.

I've had many cars, but if there's one I sometimes miss its the funny lightweight Talbot Samba Group B car. 1.3 litre, dual twin Webers, 135 BHP using modest (as in road drivable) settings. With just over 600 kilos that was enough to beat the hell out of the average Porsche 930!

Image

Image

A little special. The 1905 Fiat equipped with Isotta Fraschini arplane engine. 16.5 litres 6 inline, 250 BHP, capable of well over 200 km/h, back in 1905! Translated to modern day standards that must have felt like a million miles! And even though most parts were meant to end up in an engine bay, every single piece is a combination of true art and engineering. What a machine!

What a view!

I'm no expert but the Alfa Romeo 1900 was a brilliant restore, real amazing work

Action! Hans-Joachim Stück getting ready for some track action

Sadly the Hahne DTM E30 M3 didn't survive lap 1

Leopold Prinz von Bayern in the E9 CSL

Also motorcycle action on the Rundstrecke

More track action

Image

Audi demo with -imho- the only decent car to ever come from Ingolstadt, the ur-Quattro, with Walter Röhrl back behind the wheel!

Image

Frank Biela in the R8 Le Mans winner right behind him but I gave it some evening effects

Image

Some more rally demo's

Image

Image

Image

Last but not least... ran into an E21 Group 5 racer we hadn't seen before. Could be it has another livery before, could be a new build or fresh restore with some mods but it looked very very convincing and clearly was different to the Jägermeister cars we know from Franz Ostermaier and BMW Classic. Enjoy!

Thanks! Glad I can share something right after the event instead of keeping the pics reserved for publication. Which reminds me I have some previous events that I can now share some lovely material from as well. Soon, I hope
