Question about replace SOLEX 4A1 to WEBER 38/38 DGAS or DGES

Postby fbrisa » Thu Sep 24, 2009 3:41 pm

Dear all
I hope that you are fine.
I'm another E21' owner that have problems with his Solex 4A1.

I found that Weber has a kit conversion in USA. And says that works with the original filter and if I want i can buy the 38/38 DGAS with the same performance like the solex today.

The pic of the kit is the following:

do you have any experience with this carb in 320/6? could be good the change?

Thanks a lot for your all comments

this is the preferred replacement for the 4A1 (infact all solexes). I have not tried it myself but there are 1 or 2 members who have fitted it with good reports. Over the years of playing with various carbs i find that webbers are the best.

i have a 32/34 weber and can say it is way, way better than the solex. more economy, more power, more reliable and much nicer noise once that 2nd choke opens 8) do it :)

This is what I had fitted to my old Baur and it was an excellent carb. Transformed the car and I wouldn't hesitate in buying another.

Dear all
sorry for muy late reply but I didn't notifed about any answer in this post

I bought the kit on http://www.redlineweber.com/ in USA
The cost is USD 599 free shipping USA for the kit

If you want, yo can by only the carb but for me the best important point is that with the kit you didn't modify any point in the car and you use the original filter.

any question you can contact me
