1979 323i

Post by Jubilee21 »

Hi,

Well, finally got around to post pictures of my E21

It's a 323i, first registered in Sweden in January '79. It's a special edition made for and sold by the former Swedish importer of BMW, Forenade Bil, for their 25th jubilee. I haven't got all the pieces together yet, but it seems that Forenade Bil sold 100 special edition E21's. This is no. 75.

I first saw the car at the annual Knutstorp meeting in Sweden two years ago. It was for sale but I didn't have the money for it. Things have changed since, and since spring this year I was seriously searching for a "classic-summer-nice-weather-sunday" car to enjoy. I found (well, actually it was Anders) a Baur E21 in super condition, and had decided to buy it when I got home from Knutstorp - if off course the E21 I had seen two years ago wasn't there with a "for sale"-sign on it. Guess what... it was! I bought the car then and there.

It's turmalin-green, it has BBS frontspoiler, BBS wheels, limited slip diff, sunroof, a rear spoiler and gold striping and gold centre wheels. The wheels were originally 13 inch, but has been changed to 15 inch during it's life. There was an 3 inch thick history file (bills, every "MOT"-certificate from new, etc.) with the car, and it is a former concours winner.

Here it is beside Anders recent purchase, the very, very nice Edition S. Mine is a bit lower :D

It might actually be too low for the Danish "MOT"-test, but...

Regards,
Steen

BTW: My daily driver is an E30 325i Touring - I will be posting pictures of that under "E30 general"

Regards,
SMP

yeap, ive changed my mind. Im going to be having the pin stripes added again after it was spray painted.

Thats almost a perfect car in my opinion, its only the door mirrors that stop me saying its perfect

Beautiful car all the same :)

GOOD GOD!!! Even though I see your E21 in the flesh regularly, these pics still astonish me Steen!! Absolutely stunning.... 8)

- and to all of you guys drooling over the pics, I can asure you that this - the mother of all E21's - is actually every bit as good in real life as it looks in these pics!! Hmmm... maybe even slightly better...

Damn, I wish I had got to Knutstorp before you Steen....

Fantastic!

Rare and perfect. Love the Special Edition 6s, totally unknown here.

Another reason to admire the E21.

Congrats,

Thanks guys, for all the nice comments on my baby :D

And to Gerrit - yes, the car is lowered 60mm. The springs and shocks are hard - you feel it in your spine when you run over an ant - but combined with strutbraces both front and back it handles like a gocart :D

The problem is that in Denmark, the distance from the ground to the bottom of the headlight must be at least 50 cm. On my E21 it's 45 cm... :D I'll probably have to change the springs for the "MOT"-test... :(

I'd move the headlights to the hood :P

Guess this guy (ok Marc Duez) had to get a MOT in Denmark as well

HEY... that's great!!

Steen, problem solved... those lights are gonna look great on your E21!! - and the MOT can't possibly be a problem any longer when you show up with those discreet lights bolted through the bonnet...

My buddy's 323i are very nicely lowered too. He has standard shocks and a 60/40 lowering kit. It looks just like Steen's brown's ride height:
