then stripped the m52 downof all the unnecessary parts, replaced all the gaskets and seal, fitted a M50 inlet and a lowered sumpand pick up from Nas :thumbsup
Image

then gave the underside a couple of coats of rust bullet
Image

then a coat of colour all ready to start re assembly

Nice work so far mate. Defo won't beta half arsed job.

Keep the loom off the old engine. You need the plug that goes to the fuse box.

Really like your car, and the conversion. Can't wait to see it one day in the metal. Cheers

cheers
pulled out the servo, pipes, wires and sound proofing today then gave it a quick jetwash. i was tempted to leave the engine bay and get the lump in but I knew I would always be kicking myself if I did, Ill give it a propper clean next prep it all and give it some fresh paint before re build. not much corrosion considering its age and what is there is only surface rust. do I go to the trouble of hiding all the wiring and smoothing the bay though?

Yea looks like you will have to spray it anyway - engine bay smoothing is a good idea but in an e21 the engine they are really bumpy.

i cut all the brackets off, but thats as far as id to go as it feels strange to have lots of filler in the engine bay.

Omg lol. Unsprung as well! Are you going to get fed up with lighting up your tyres or stalling.

Do you ever really tire of lighting up your tyres. The 6 paddle is sprung but unsparing will be better for the supercharger power ( non of that turbo nonsense). Cheers for the bits today pal I still think you should have given me that steering link rod. :-). Your car would look better stopped out with bucket seats I'll help if you want and move your old interior

cut off a few bits out of bay and atacked the service rust with wire wheel, rust treatmeant then rust bullet. rain stopped play so I didnt get chance to prime and paint ( I should have given the VW show a miss this morning. then I fitted the return fuel tank, re fitted the rear tanks and started re assembling the rear beam. ( the rear arb bushes are a bitch to fit any tips?) also an e30 318is fuel pump is not a direct fit you need to cut it down a bit.

It's very odd, I have had 2 or 3 e30 pumps fitted straight into the slug and my Baur without any cutting down. Fuel gauge is always wrong though!

can you correct the gauge Jim? I thought it was me at firstwith the pump but I had my mate look aswell. it was a second hand one though so I dont know where it came from really. I gave up trying to clamp the poly arbs inand packed up in fustration.

Too much effort to fix it. Basically full is full, and the low level light tells the truth, still shows 1/4 tank when the light comes on.
