Thanks for the update mate, can't wait for you to start on the E21!
As for the VW's, this is the easiest way to take out the engine:
1982 BMW 316 E21
Re: 1982 BMW 316 E21
cool. G40 engine..
I had an abd / gt ebgined mk2 bready id have loved something like that engine you done.
U know you can make your own coilovers for an e21. You buy sleaves from rally design n then weld em on your struts n use mk2 vw rear coilovers.

Re: 1982 BMW 316 E21
Time has flown!
Moved across the Pennines to Leeds, got married, bought a house!
Still got the e21. Thinking of selling it as I have too many cars ( 9 now! )
Headgasket has gone on original engine, all complete bar carb which has been removed.
Fitted brand new rpm coilovers, 323i xdrilled grooved brakes, Volvo 4 pots.
Custom exhaust
BMW m3 alcantara/cloth interior
Full m42 engine conversion
Engine rebuild parts for original engine, plus original interior bar passenger seat.
What do you reckon it's worth?
