I never thought of that. Will go with stock now. Maybe later I could do that too :D

I bought two exhaust tip in black for E34 that I want to usee, they look cool.

I´m so fan of this exhaust setup :D

Image

Also had to buy a new gear knob, Found one with the same pattern/material like the rubber boot.

Image

I can´t wait to fit all the new and old parts that I´ve renewed and painted. The best part is to finally have 5 speed gear box, and drive with sensible rpm on the highway :D

Question:
Does anyone know how to replace the propshaft joint?

I bought 2 of these from Wallot https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/joint-c ... 01-11.html

My propshaft joint lock looks like this, is this "welded" or is it possible to replace with the one from Wallot?

Great progress!! I see one detail, that always shows the m10 base, and that is the bracket where the coil is bolted on. Between the fire wall and the richt strut tower. Mild suggestion to get that off, even after primering the engine bay. It is useless, and doesn't belong on a 323i.

I know about the bolt for the coil bracket. But my swedish wiring harness has en EGR box which I might have to put where the M10 coil is placed. Not sure if the box will can be left out, or if I do so, it will affect the ignition system.

So for now I´ll just leave the bolt as it is.

I still need to fit a few more brackets, I need to install the bracket for the airfilter box, but that will be bolted in when I have the engine in, since I don´t know exact where to put it. And I also need a bracket for the fuel line down on the left frame rail, that too will be bolted on when the paint job is done.

This beauty turned in months into snot on my car. Now I applied the hopelessly yellow alternative from a E30 from Strongflex.

Thanks for the tip. I don't understand why the flexdisc is not for sale under E21 on their website, only for E30, as they seem to use the same flexdisc.

Reading my topic back I read that I had to remove 2mm of the thickness of the part. So they seem the same, but they are not. But to remove 2mm... I've had to do worse things to make something fit :D

Somehow we've seen more issues with rubber products from Febi-Bilstein. A few monts compared to decades with the original materials seems rediculous though!

As per ETK the E21 and E30 flex dics are not the same. Although differences may only be small, never investigated myself. The E21 part is the same as the one used in E24, E28 and E34 for example. Sadly I couldn't any alternatives for the OEM/Febi-Bilstein version.

Small nuance from my side, some months turned out to be 34 months...

But the reduced life is clear as well with the bushes for the suspension. Years have become months.

Then still, indeed! We see this with so many rubber parts varying from hoses to bushings. The originals, probably made from natural rubbers, lasted decades with hardly any exception. And modern stuff, with more modern synthetic rubbers perhaps, lasts a few years tops. Quality is decreasing and the only thing on the increase is the price tag. Sad.

I´m following the Youtube channel E39M5 Restorations, and Sreten has used Meyle rubber disc for prop shaft on M5 models, and they only last a few KM, so I wonder if it´s worth using Meyle on E21?
The only other option is to get an original BMW, but they cost quite alot. So what brand have you guys been using?
Will a version like this https://silverproject.eu/driveshaft-fle ... 0mm-holes/ be an better option, one of this https://jdmperformance.net/en-no/produc ... ling-donut. I just don´t feel like spending hours on replacing bushings all over the car, now that I´ve replaced them all with poly bushings. Only bushing left which isn´t poly is the one on the prop shaft.
