Dear Dennis
I don't want to appear as "gospel" but your lovely Alpina seems like an A4 somewhere between the only 3 registered
at:
http://www.alpina-archive.com/?p=5807&nmt=3-1870

You may have indicated previuosly that the 2.8 conversion was a subsequent change and that it was originally an A4?

It just goes to show how prescient Alpina were at the time in producing alphanumeric chassis nos for their own - built machines!
Did you get in touch with the guy wanting a B6?
Since I advertised some spares people have been emailing wanting a B6 as well!!
Do please keep us posted as to progress with Alpina HQ over provenance etc?
Best wishes
Regards

Well there's the funny thing. The A4 has been produced till 08-77 as I have to believe the information on this website... and of course I do.

The C1 has been produced form 1980 on, and the B6 from 1978 on. So I'm not completely sure yet but am awaiting some info from the HQ.

Only Mike has contacted me as he might have some interest.

No it's not in the boot. But as this is an early model it doesn't seem to be uncommon when it isn't.

For sure the car hasn't been build at Alpina HQ. It's been suplied by Oldenhof I'm told.

Yes the battery position does not seem to be a key determinant of originality

I know that B6 no 278 (the other car IN GB) also has battery in engine bay! Whereas mine does not.

I can't find refernce to Oldenhof cars in Taylor's book- but will have another look! Have you got this book? VG for any Alpina Fan!

Battery relocation was never standard on Alpina cars AFAIK.

Oldenhof was the main Dutch dealership for Holland just like Garage du Bac for France or Heidegger for Zwitzerland. They were licensed by Alpina to do the Alpina conversions.

Jup, still alive.
