320/6 with Webber 38dgas

Post by bealo »

Hi guys

Currently rebuilding a m20b20 with a Weber 38 dgas

Can anyone tell me the correct vacum hose locations from the dizzy

Also there is a port on the intake manifold which I think remains blocked off ??

The carb has two ports one which is by the gears for the linkage which is currently blocked off and one by the choke

If I am correct they al are in use.

You need one for the vacuum of the advance timing and one for reverse. The last one goes on the original airfilter.

The connection at the dizzy outside is advance timing so the other one is reverse.

I am trying to find the original instructions of the weber 38 because it gives you the details about the connections.
I had a weber 38 Manual choke conversion so i don not know if your automatic version needs another connection, I do not think so.

Speaking with a guy on the Facebook page, he seems to think the advance goes to the carb and the retard to the intake

Hi everybody,

I don't want to open a 1000th thread about the Weber 38dgas so i'm posting my request here.

I am looking for a manual instllation for the Webber 38dgas on a BMW 320/6 and ideally how to tune it.

There is currently dead 4A1 mounted on my e21 and i have a 38dgas ready to be installed.
I'm from Paris and my car is in Belgium (Brussels) do you think i can install it then drive it within the day to bring my gem home ?

Thanks in advance guys !

This is the first return on Google: http://www.theguestroom.net/manuals/38-38.pdf

Normally it will be perfectly possible to drive home. Whether it will be maximum smooth is a different story. It might be that you need to change the jets or tubes, this makes it a bit more difficult. So if you want to be really sure, order a box with several of them so you are pretty sure that the right one is there.

This store has pretty good deals and they sell assortment boxes as well which you can choose yourself.

In the beginning I just tuned the carb on sound and whether it was smooth. This resulted in a CO of about 9%. So a gasanalyser is of great help.

Btw, I'm curious where you found the inspiration for your name Kobayashi... Can you tell something about it? And please feel free to present yourself and the car in a topic here: http://bmwe21.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=7
