1976 e21 320 Full Convertible

Post by Pyxipyx »

In Australia, I recently bought this 1976 e21 320.
I know absolutely nothing about it.
It could be a Peters because 1976 2002 Peters plastic rear window looks like this.
But I noticed the side windows are one piece, sliding inside the front quarter window, so thought maybe a Bradford.
There is no BAUR tag anywhere.
The VIN search states it's a coupe.

The roof looks like it was professionally made except for the thumbscrews inside on the front bar ends that permit it to slide backwards along the body rail when dropping the roof down.
She was initially burnt orange, re-sprayed a pearlised white, can see the outline of a removed eagle sticker over the whole bonnet.

Does anyone know if she was coach-built or is a backyard cut-down?

Not sure how to post a photo on this forum, maybe someone can teach me.

Congrats on the buy! It could be a lumma, but then it is more like a e30 convertible.

My guess it's a homebuild. And pardon my French, but fcuking ugly with the top up.

Never the less a good buy!!!

Could be homebuild, but I doubt it. There where many more or less proffesionals who converted cars around that time. I know of about 5 types of conversions, apart from Baur/Lumma/Peters...

Looked at some other conversion I have some pictures of, but this is different.

Personally, I'm more curious for your past cars. The Baurs for the register, the E30 Lumma because I never saw one!
