right time for a few updates.

will went to kent for some easter modification on bens car

managed to give my head a good clean out and lap my valves and deliverd my cylinder head to an engineering shop to get it skimmed and the valve seats cut into it,

Image

Adrian (wood ash garage) is going to also re helicoil the head because the spark plug in number 1 has had a bit of a hard time. if he is really nice he may do a little porting aswell to gimme a little extra boost

before i took everything down to him i first removed the standard throttle bodie from the century turbo manifold. below is a pic of the new 323 throttle bodie and a picture of the gaskets so you can see the increase in size

Image

Image

I then machined out the manifold to get maximum flow into the plenum

Image

the hardest part of the day was converting the 323 throttle to accept a 325 throttle bar which has the key way for the throttle position sensor. this meant maching the 323 throttle disk to accept the new bar etc and lots of messing about.
had to redrill and tap some studs to accept the 323 throttle but wasnt too hard. also made a plate for the TPS out of 5mm alloy plate. looks great

Image
looks almost standard :)

injectors should arrive in the next few days and i can get them sent over to adrian
he is then going to decide if we mount injectors into the head or into the bottom of the manifold depending on the space but that will be updated in the future

Tonight gonna remove the webbers and manifold from my existing engine so they are going up for sale as soon as someone has the pennies

right time for some more updates :)

firstly thanks drjim for my new engine that arrived and all the other bits n bobs

here is a picture of my living room post parts arriving
Image

got 2 sets of pistons with the engine. not sure whats what but im guessing the first ones are the 2 litre pistons

piston think 2 litre
Image
Image
the gudgeon pin is slightly higher meaning the piston sits lower therefor giving more capacity i think

piston im unsure of
Image
Image
prob standar pistons i think

currently sent the 2 litre ones to engineer next door to give them a quick face an knock down the compression a little, should do the trick

also in the kit got a crank scraper which will need a little bit of fetteling to fit the 2 litre crankshaft
Image

and finally the best part of my week by far is this little beauty of a find

10!!!!!!!!!!! image split rims all 16"
2 x 8" wide
2 x 10" wide
5 x 9" wide
1 spare center
5 spare rear drums
3 spare dish's

they are from a porsche 944 so for £150 i can get vw 4x100 to 5x130 adaptors of ebay.

and this will hurt all of you now
i only paid £550 for the wheels :)
they need a refurb on some of them but apparantly all are straight and if not then i got enough spares to sort it out :)

this is the cleanest one

that should only effect the compression ratio. capacity is determined by bore and stroke.

awesome score on the wheels. wanna send a set to nz for me?!

Gotta wait till I see what all the wheels are like before I start gettin too excited.

Will update this thread when I'm back from mechanicing at Paul ricard this weekend.

Hopefully pistons will be skimmed n cleaned by then and I can steal the engine stand from work and start the turbo engine build

Think what he should have said was, the higher pin allows a longer stroke crank to get the piston to the top of the bore, IE 2.0l crank more capacity.

my injectors arrived today and have been instantly fowarded to woodash garage to get them mounted into the head, head is then being modified and then skimmed and returned to me, here is a close up of the injectors. i have checked the part numbers and they are what they say they are.

Image

Image

also have all the relevant connectors so that i can run them

i have 8 injectors so if anyone else is building a peformance 4 pot then let me know as i have 4 spare
