HELP - Timing belt cover removal?

hey guys just trying to go through the motions of swapping the water pump, i need to remove the timing belt cover..

in the pic does 1, then 2 need to come off in order for me to remove the bolt at number 3 ?

hehe it wasnt so bad....

i tell ya what was bad... getting that friggin water pump installed whilst dealing with the timing belt tensioning spring! i could have done with another set of hands or three!! :cry:

the spring and pin is used to set the tension on the timing belt before you tighten up the tensioner. if your changing the waterpump without disturbing the timing belt you can leave the spring and pin out.

just put the spring and pin somewhere safe, cus you'll need it the next time you take the timing belt off.

:oops: oh! wish i'd a known that yesterday!! haha

not to worry, i got it back in there, i guess you could call that a safe place to keep it! :lol:

Pah, it's easy, provided you give yourself enough time to do it. just make sure you keep all of the bits in a safe place though, and of course double and of course triple-check the cam/crank marks line up as they should.
Probably a good idea to get new pulley bolts (8mm, 8.8 TS) and give 'em a bit of medium-strength thread lock before you put them in.

is that just in the context of the timing belt being changed? (only the water pump being changed so cam/cranks aint moving from current positions) 8)
