Hi all,
Ive been running my 316, with ported E30 injection head, twin dellorto 40's + trumpets, for a while now.
Its plenty fast enough (dyno'd 130 whp) but all the power seems to be above 4000rpm.
Even with careful driving, no sideways fun and 70mph motorway use im still struggling to get anything over 20mpg.
I cant really justify running such a thirsty car at the minute but love a project so...
What is involved in converting the car to run fuel injection - what options do i have? what wiring would be needed?
Has anybody on here run this combo. M10, 1.8i head, injection conversion?
Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly received.
Thanks.
Rob.

Nonsense, 6 pot deviants should be ignored.
You can get the efi stuff from an early e30 318i, or you could buy a set of throttle bodies and standalone management. Still won't be all that economical though!

Sorry to interupt you two. :O)
Thanks for the comments.
Im unsure what to do......think i may just be expecting modern performance from an old engine, to go fast it needs lots of fuel.
To save fuel i should stop trying to make it go fast and go back to 90bhp. :O)
Luckily ive inherited my girlfriends 106 diesel which i can get 60mpg out of (and mph normally)
Maybe ill just leave it for a month or so and find something else to play with for a bit.

Re: M10 Injection Conversion - whats involved?
Don't give up on it just yet. EFi will help, but don't expect any miracles. My e46 only gets around 23mpg (although they are American gallons, so maybe 27 mpg UK). I went the quad throttle bodies on my M10 but that was for the track not for economy. All the hardware cost around $4000 (in Australia) but it included everything from the throttle bodies, manifolds, computer, ignition module, etc right through to the plugs and fittings to put it together. It cost me almost the same again in labour though as I couldn't do it myself.
Cheers
