John
Your e30 325i ETM is still in my toolbox, hopefully between you you'll suss the wire colours out. On mine the oil pressure switch wire was a different colour to your idiots guide in the other thread, and the ETM. Had to work it out with the meter in the end, shouldn't be too challenging for you though.

jim, different oil pressure light wire colours might be because yours was a 323i to begin with, not a 320 like daves is, and mine was?
not sure on that one tbh, ive never seen a diagram for an 320/6 or a 323i e21, not seen any acurate diagrams on line, just going on the colours of the wires on mine.
thanks for reminding me my e30 diagrams are with you, looked for them the other day, then remembered id left them with you..... was guna write down the c101 pin locations and wire colours from my thread, and use my car if i get stuck. guna take my power probe and multi meter either way.
with daves help, were guna try and get it in and running in a day! wish us luck, lol!
is yours running yet jim, i guess it is if youve noticed the oil pressure light isnt working?

Mine was a 320 auto not a 323i. Noticed the wire colour issue when I was soldering the wires up, but it may be because I was the other side of the C101 compared to yours. The actual wire colour was pink and green as I recall, but you can just run a new wire if you want, it's not exactly complicated!
Not running, waiting for exhaust gaskets to appear, plus flywheel cover plate (bet Dave needs one of those) and some exhaust brackets as it's more time/cost effective to spend a tenner on a bracket than an hour of my time making one. I'm going to dinitrol/stone chip the underside this week, then once the zorst is on I just need to check/tighten everything up underneath, get the paint done, refit trim and interior and sort the hood. I found a company on ebay that should be able to get me some fabric to recover the targa panel and front roof section. Then it's windscreen and MOT as long as the engine works!

Re: DrGonzoPOW's 1981 320/6 - M20B25 It Begins!
Think i got a flywheel cover plate with the new engine. Is it the same kinda thing as the one thats held in by 4x 10mm bolts on the 320 engine ? Didnt have too much trouble taking it out really. Was a bit of a squeeze without taking the fan off but dont think we damaged anything in the process. Im goin to start grinding rust, spraying and cleaning the engine bay and underside of the bonnet this week, then we can hopefully get the engine in on the weekend.
I had a decent electricians toolkit with a soldering iron in but i left it on a job ages ago so will have to buy a new one.
Regarding flywheel bolts - shall i buy some new ones from BMW or just get em oft t'interweb somewhere? I orderded a few things from GSF and noticed on the clutch section it said spigot bearing so i bought one. Dunno if its going to be the one i need???

Same as. They should be fine with a drop of thread lock.

Nice one, dont wanna spend any more money till the thing runs now!
Been down again today for a spot of tidy'in up. Here's the engine bay before elbow grease (and masses of gunk)

The pics look better than it was. Some of it was like half an inch of sticky oil shit.
Afterwards (shit phone pics)

Did a bit of wire wheeling on the tat and primered it up. Think im gonna spray the whole of the engine bay and the underside of the bonnet now the compressor is up and running.

The old girls looking a tad sorry for herself now

Hey Murran, do you have a welder at all ? Found a nasty crack in the chassis rail just infront of the left engine mount. Its been in an accident at some point and its not a nice thing to have found. Could do with maybe welding a patch over it ?

At risk of being called a git, I'll point out that you have a welder yourself!
Roll of gasless wire or a disposable cylinder from machine mart should sort out one patch.
