Sound System fitting problems, WHERE?

After taking my E21 to Source sounds, I am struggling to fit a nice pair of component speakers whilst also keeping the original look of the interior

One option was to have fibreglass moulds on the doors around the side pockets, but this is also a challenge as the window handles are in the way

Has anyone had component speakers fitted, if so where?

4 JBL 6x4's and a boot mounted sub & amp are all I have and it sounds pretty good.

I have got Blaupunkt 4x6 in the front foot will and 6x6 in the rear, with Blaupunkt power amp, equaliser and alpine head unit and cd changer (soon to be upgraded to USB head unit - probably a Pioneer, since well Blaupunkt is .........bankrupt........)

where have you fitted the 6x6's in the rear?

on the rear parcel board. I mounted a compressed board on top of the original carpet board and covered it with a matching colour unhostery.

My mate just fitted Kenwood blue tooth head unit, beam music from my i phone and its got a hands free, put some jl audio 6x4s in front behind origanal grills if you remove rear shelth theres cut outs which we grinded a big bigger and fitted some 6x9 speakers as they just miss the boot bars..and pioneer active sub under the front seat.. Sounds wicked

I was looking at the BT capable head units but my sound man pursueaded me againts it as he told me that the BT is for music streaming and not clear euough for phone conversations. Any comments from your friend on this option????

I use a Kenwood KDC-BT60U as the backlighting can be adjusted to match the rest of the E21 dash. Bluetooth works great on it.. In fact, it is a Parrot kit built in. No offense, but he's talking crap!

I didn't want to lose boot space so I went with an active sub underneath the front passenger seat. Went with 6x4 low profile JBL's in the rear.

none taken. To be fair that was some 7 years ago and i m sure technology would have imporved a lot by now. And I am very sure the knows what he is talking about he is very well respected here in this part of the world, most of all after some 30 years of doing up all the family cars, he won't want to mess with us.
