Newbie & his 316 Auto

Post by ashleywinston »

Hello all!

Just regsitered for the forum today as I have just bought my first E21!

Ok, it's only a 316 Auto, but the bodywork is pretty tidy and was cheap enough that I just had to have it!

As it has been sitting up for a while I am currently working on getting it running properly and you will probably see lots of questions from me in the technical section of the forum...

Hello and welcome. Your car looks great from the pictures! They do look nice in white. Do you have some more pictures, like interior and engine bay shots?
As for your carburettor, it's best to swap it for a Weber carb. There's one for sale here by another UK member.
Good luck.

+1 - like this - white e21's are pretty rare.

Thanks for all the feedback & the very warm welcome!

I have had a handful of E28s, an E23 and currently run an E38, but smaller BMs are all new to me, so I'm get getting going.

Would love a link to the Webber being sold on the forum.

Funny... I'm not so keen on the white, but I'm glad that so many other people like it. I will put up some more photos once the car is actually running right and I'm using it.

My plan is to keep it stock... but I'm not very good at doing that normally. Quite fancy keeping it simple, though - perhaps some wheels and a suspension drop to set the whole car off...

Only a 316? Any e21 is a cool car so no 'only' about it.

Where are you based?

You need a 4 cylinder cars Weber - 28/36 or 32/36 iirc.

Looks lovely in white too.

I say 'only' as I am one of those plonkers who only ever wants the biggest engine in a car. (My E38 is a 750i.)

But you are right, this car is all about cruising and being cool.

I'm in West London, not far from the Ace Cafe. Are there ever any meets there?

First Monday of every month - TONIGHT!! in fact.

As I'm e21'less at the minute I might pop over just to have a nose at yours if your going?

Depends though, as am just going to workshop to empty the 106 shed out and not sure if I'll get away in time.
