Got MIB back yesterday.

First thing to mention is the exhaust system. It looks great and sounds lovely. A proper rasp as the revs build and lots of nice crackle & pop on overrun. It should get even better as the carbon builds and coats the inside of the system.

Finally MIB has the sort of performance I have wanted for it all along. I like the old M20 but the M52 is just miles ahead. Even with a rev limit of 5000 (till the ECU fault codes are cleared) the sheer grunt is awesome. The rear of the car just squats down and hurls itself at the horizon. It's just brutal. There's even more to come too, once the 2.5 inlet goes on and it's given a live re-map. Handling wise it feels much the same too, which is another bonus.

There are a couple of little things left to sort, such as the heater not being as warm as I'd like, but overall it's just as I always wanted it. Driving back last night it certainly surprised a few people.

Just like to say thanks to Nas too. He's done a cracking job with my car and his standard of work has been excellent. Thanks Nas mate, I'm really grateful to you.

thanks mate. Hopefully you won't get bored of the power too quickly !!

Once you get the inlet off the heater cable can be easily adjusted. Its a right pain trying to do it without taking that inlet off.

When you swap an engine you get to find these little things need sorting.

It's just right mate. Much more and it would just be too much of a handful for a daily driver. Especially when winter gets here!

This is just a taster of how MIB sounds nowadays. Apologies for the poor sound quality but it's a pretty poor camera & integral mike. You can get an idea of how it crackles & pops though.

The only thing that lets MIB down is its wiring loom. This has been pretty s**tty since the day I got the car and hasn't made things easy for Nas when it came to wiring the ECU. Anyway, it's going into KR Motorsport on Saturday and I'm going to have it all replaced. While they're at it, it would be rude not to get the remap and 2.5 inlet fitted. ;)

Lovely, at some points MIB even sounds like a vintage V8, I was expecting (but not hoping for) some more clean M52 sound. Nice job!

I've done nearly 900 miles including 200 at a steady 90 plus and the engine never missed a beat. It ticks over at a nice steady rate and always starts instantly. It really is a peach of an engine. There's 10% more power to come too!

Had a bit of e21 fun at Brands Hatch today. Also got a few laps driving a new 1 series M Coupe, a 335i convertible and a £117 000 760 with 560bhp & 540 ft/lbs torque. The 7 series was awesome! I also got to do a few laps in a new M3 race car before getting taken out by Tiff Needell. 95mph sideways through Paddock Hill bend was quite an experience. There's a bit of video below. :thumbsup

I was absolutely blown away by the guy. His car control was awesome and you could tell just how much he loved the M3. He couldn't have been nicer either and was happy to indulge me and chat about the old days and e21's. A real gent and a proper legend to boot. It was a terrific day and one I won't forget in a hurry.

Wonderful memory that must make indeed! Wouldn't mind coming over for a day like that, perhaps next year?
