Re: TWR 335i
nice rad mark... does that fit in the original mounting place? if so i would be very very intrested in one myself.. mine was just twin cored but not in full ally.. although it never over heated as i had the electric fan to kick in at 1/4 temp and that would hold the temp gauge at 1/2 whilst in the worst of traffic or abuse..

Re: TWR 335i
Yeah, the one that came with the car would have meant chopping around the front panel to get it to fit. I have no idea if its a copy of TWR's rad, although I would have thought it was, but we just figured it would be a nicer installation if we didn't have to start chopping panels around. That's why I went for AH Fabs own, slimmer fan too.dannyboy wrote:nice rad mark... does that fit in the original mounting place?
Although bodywork was pretty minimal, the bonnet had some serious corrosion along the front. It was beneath the skin but it wouldn't have taken long to break through. Luckily, I had a pretty much mint spare so we've fitted that.
Next job is to get the wheels across to be refurb'd.

Are you going to have the centre black or silver. Reason i ask is that the last set i done, i had to take them back 2 times to get the centres painted black properly. They managed to finally do a bloody good job but not without alot of hassle.

Re: TWR 335i
Had to pick up final bits of trim today. Opted for new gutter trim but still cost £100 even at trade price.
Not too long now.
MOT and final jetting and setting up of Webers. Given that we're expecting at least 30 brake more than MIB and a heap more torque, it's going to be an animal.
Goal is Ace Cafe on Boxing Day.

Re: TWR 335i
I'll keep you posted. I'm just trying to arrange the final jobs like wheels and interior. What I don't want is for it all to look too new and freshly restored. Obviously I want it to be mechanically spot-on but I want to keep the original patina of the paintwork and interior. The only headlining I could get was from a non-sunroof car so not much use. As a result I am going to have to have one made from scratch but it should still look good. The carpet that Dave @ e21 Revival sorted me is just about perfect and the blue is a nice contrast with the silver.
I cannot wait to drive it though. The engine in MIB makes 211 ft/lbs of torque but this should make way more at nearer 300 than 200 ft/lbs.
It's been a long, expensive job but hopefully it'll be close to completion soon.

Re: TWR 335i
Herman has the headlining redone in black suede- looks far better than it sounds!
Worth a thought- if you are looking for options?

Re: TWR 335i
I was thinking of black alcantara in MIB but I think I want to keep any deviations from stock reversible here. Mind you, right now all I want is to get it back running & MOT'd.
Re: TWR 335i
mib is a way too cool car as it is
But a TWR 335i ouch!!!!!! i really want to see the end product
...an M30/3.5, cam, big valve's and carb's!!!!!!!
mine was 256.2bhp @ the fly wheel (redline tuning rolling road) and that was with a cam(shrick 272) and a fritz one off complete system at the time(2004)...
Also a 265/5 close ratio box with a 3.07 e12 rear diff.... standing 1/4 at just under 14sec... 13.87..........

Re: TWR 335i
Unfortunately the TWR is even further behind schedule and won't be at the Ace on Boxing Day as was originally promised.
This is how things stand currently which will give you an idea of just how far behind we actually are.

Re: TWR 335i
Sadly they looked that good when they were unwrapped months ago. Look closely and they're not even bolted on!
