Re: Wheel Courier company?
Hi Ash
Also worth noting that all genuine alpina's of this kind come with centre caps/plates locks on them and therefore anything without are replica's

I had a similar nightmare with my 911. Bought some 997 turbo wheels from a very wealthy guy in London. Got them home and after 3 or so months, decided to have them refurbed (diamond cut). When they returned from having a very expensive refurb job, i bought brand new rubbers for them and went to fit them....only then i realised my horror !. One of the wheels was the incorrect offset. Anyway, the chap i bought them from basically told me to Foxtot Oscar but would sell me the correct wheel i needed for £250.00. So, foolishly bought it from him and had it shipped direct to the refurb place. Whem they removed the tyre, the wheel was cracked ! The guy stopped answering his calls etc etc....so i had to fork out another £300 to buy another wheel and the had the refurb charges again....
Morale of the story is ALWAYS pay the paypal fees and get the buyer protection
Glad your prob sorted itself out

Re: Wheel Courier company?
Sorry to hear of your troubles here Mobster!
What protection do you have with paypal alone? - I thought there was much less on paypal than through EBay itself and Paypal combined?
I have been in touch with your chum re the Hartge wheels - but he has gone to ground at the moment!

My understanding is that as long as you use paypal, not essentially through ebay, you will get the protection as long as you pay their fees. If you do it as gift as i did, you are in dangerous ground.
I think he may have sold the wheels.

Re: Wheel Courier company?
Thanks Mobster,These also had centre caps and plate locks, but they were fake like the rest of the wheels! I was thinking of going down your route of refurbing, new tyres etc, so you're right, definitely worth doing the necessary checks if only to save a greater investment later on.

You're right. Just the centre caps. I'll remember that in future.

They are, but I am now of the thinking that as nice as the 16" open lugs are, they are too pricey and a little weedy. Seen a few people do an "open lug look" to 17"'s and they look brilliant in my opinion, plus cheaper. I might even go up to 18"'s to really fill the arches

Re: Wheel Courier company?
Thanks Mobster, I will let you know. To be honest I'm going to wait with a wheel choice until the last minute. Plenty of these wheels about too, so no need to worry about rairty to which is handy.
