Cheers lee. I was going for the understated classic look, I want to be able to pull up to a wedding reception wearing a suit and not have to jump out of a car that's got a bodykit or painted in an eye popping colour.

I decided that because of all the bbs fakes going around, i don't actually like bbs rs anymore. So I sold them on for what I paid, so I'm back to deciding what wheels I want to run next year. Maybe I'll stick with thr original plan and get some wider dishes for my mti. Although I want stainless dishes because polished alloy is a pain in the ass.

In the meantime I decided that I had better sort out my lack of Speedo. Playing Speedo roulette is a lot more dangerous then playing fuel light roulette. The Speedo apps on the phone cannot keep up when I accelerate.

As per earlier post my eye was on the Dakota digital 50-1.. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/ ... prd837.htm

the other day my little bro mentioned that he is off to las Vegas to some convention on cancer for doctors, and this was good as he has a mate out there and that means he can bring back the solution to my Speedo problem thus avoiding tax. £128 pounds delivered :)

Looks decent that, could be a good option for those wanting to change their transmission while retaining the function of the clocks!

I'll keep an eye on how you get on, as I might be interested some time soon.

aye it doesn't matter your diff or gear ratios / rim size either, it will display the speed you are actually doing, as you can see the e28 / e24 160mph speedo seems to go in a treat. its maybe 1mm smaller then the original clock in diameter - The real challenge is to mount it rigid within the binnacle. a bracket of some description will need to be made.

sold the bbs rs. all the dirty fakes going round has ruined a cult wheel that you have to work hard to save for im afraid. Still after some show style wheels. my little bro went to America and bought back the Dakota GPS sender, when he got back there was a note in his suitcase saying that they had manually searched it, because when they scanned it and found bottles of mountain dew (which apparently tastes better in the states?) and my gps thing and it looked suspicious, he says that he is glad that he didn't end up in Guantanamo.

Im booked in on a track day on march the 8th at castle combe, will be fun to burn around and see what the car can do without the risk of killing myself or getting banned.

I got the car back from Mal's customs after he did some touch-ups from my cack handed clumsiness where I had chipped a bit of paint in a couple of places. looks great.

I fitted my new knob, has made a massive difference to the gear change, where before it felt notchy and stiff now its much nicer and as the knob is taller I can actually reach it better. I understand that having an alpenis steering wheel and an AC schnitzel gear-knob probably goes against grain, but no shits are being given as at least its bmw related stuff :)

problemchilds' mate finally got round to making me some master cylinder spacers so now I can adjust the pedals so they are lower. that's probably my next update really, I haven't got many things to do to this car now its done..

well yeah it is, I am not sure if i need to upgrade the calipers and discs yet, I was driving it fairly hard yesterday over the moors, and when the brakes are properly warm its a good pedal.. This may sound wet but im worried about paint damage on the track. thinking of clear vinyl on the front valance and on the sills, and a bonnet bra might be adequate?

Usually there's not too much stuff flying around on track days but you never know. Then better also cover the headlamps with clear tape. Did the brake calipers get a rebuild recently? Usually that's a great help already, especially for the fronts of course. But stock stuff will heat up haha, btw what pads are you using?

the front calipers are wilwoods and the rears are refurbished e30's - I didn't do anything to the wilwoods apart from clean them as they have had a fairly good life and show no sign of wear. I have ds2500 pads on the front and the e30 calipers are using stock pads.

Lol yea :)

Subsequently I did some searches you can get them on eBay for 30 quid. Is that the bra you wear Mark?

You booked track time Mark? Or you gonna sit on the side at the static bit of the show?
