Post by Joe Wright »

Sounds like either the switch (stalk) or the relay to me, most likely to be the latter. It's a black plastic box located under the dash, on LHD cars it is located under the dash on the left hand side, not far from the left front speaker. But it might be in a mirrored position on RHD cars.

relay mate ! As jeroen said, black pricy box !

Mine did the same, though I managed to save it, cleaned the contacts, oiled them...works like a charm and saved me 80 euros.

Oxidation inside the relay box might be the issue indeed. In some cases a contact clean can help, sometimes it's too late and you need to replace.

If the car was stood for a longer time or has water in the footwell due to a windscreen seal leak, that might have catalyzed things. When refitting, make sure the unit is not fitted upside down because then it might fill up.

How did you go with this? I am guessing if the park circuit in the wiper motor failed this could happen too. Probably not the case since you didn't come back and say "hey, it's not working" - but in case somebody searches in the future and can't work it out.
