I feel a little light headed about how much that last weak bit will cost to sort out. :/

Maybe we could approach them, plead poverty, and see if there's a reduction to be had if a few of us placed an order? They can only say no.

The BMW CV's have a unique spline count (I think its 23)

Tbf in the long run a e30 188 and shortened shafts would be the most cost effective option. That conversion would probably cost less than the mentioned shafts and cvs be it ever so slightly cruder. Where is Propan? He's on a 188

Why wouldn't gkn cv joints on standard driveshafts work? I don't normally complain about the cost, but I can't get over how much that stuff costs.

Can I not use e30 or e21 half shafts with upgrade cv joints?

If you could get a GKN joint to fit the BMW shaft that would be the way to go. I tried to find them and failed and GKN were not interested in making special joints to fit the BMW shafts. The difference is in the number of splines. E30 shafts are different again I believe.

btw there are std GKN joints to fit the custom shaft that can be picked up for about £50 each. They would probably cope with all an M20 could put out but I needed more with the S54.

going to a 188 LSD diff from a e30, will keep you updated with the progress.

My still mint condition 323i diff with LSD is going to be on sale soon.

PM with a price on your LSD delivered to the UK please croma-man?

I spoke to Gripper at Race Retro last weekend and they said they might be able to put together a more moderately priced solution. The guy did go into great detail about why the OE joints fail, using exotic metals etc etc, but I could feel my eyes glazing over. Anyway, he asked me to mail the spec of the standard shafts and CV joints.

Coincidentally, I saw Aydin's nice, shiny and new shafts being built up on Monday.
