Fitting a new dizzy to the M10...

The dizzy that was on the engine was an E30 unit and I want to change it for the E21 unit as the loom is compatible.

When installing the new unit. how do I need to line up the rotor arm? Do I need to ensure the no. 1 piston is on it's compression stroke?
