I'm david, from France, I own a 1982 323i alpina C1... need's some work to get back on the road, but it's still in good shape, hasn't been driven since 1989 when it was stored and forgotten... only the front spoiler is missing, broken but with the car, need's too be repaired...
I'm looking for any informations, links, documents, feedback on this serie built between 80->82...
this car has been modified thru the years, some stuff are missing, the stearing wheel is not correct, the rear axe with the superdiff is gone (broken and replaced by a basic one for exemple. It still has the rim's, the shorks, shorter spring, the big sway bar and the extra gas tank... the engine run's but need to be inspected after 8 years without running.
the engine is correctly stamped 23 E6 N°4093 C1/1 just under the Oil level Jauge.
I've been told that only 462 car (C1-2.3) were built between 80 et 82. I don't have more.
Hi nice car, being in france, do you know if Garage Du Bac actually imported the car or built it as part of alpinas franchise.... shame the bits seem to have gone missing, cos i noticed you have the sofa seats in your car and not recaros/alpina also front spoiler e.t.c. i would start on the front and work your way back, change the front spoiler... and get hold of an LSD diff and buy the backing plate from walloth and nesche to bolt on to the boot chassis (large finned back plate cover) have you still got your alpina built plate in the car?
Some pictures of the interior and engine bay would be great to see what you car looks like...
your right for the "Garage Du Bac " a few where imported, but due to difficult custom clearence between France and Germany till late 80's garage de Bac had agreement to import parts and built the car's, but without stamping the specific frame number and without the dash logo ID the owner has to provide a 323i serial fron local dealer of buy it upgrade by garage du Bac.
By garage du Bac, you could have all part from catalogue excepted the C1-2.3 emblem, the specific Frame number and the dash ID plate all the rest was "on option". For exemple, on dash instrumentations only the speed "niddle" and rpm niddle were red, the petrol and water T° were white by garage le Bac and all were red with alpina.
On my side, my car come's probably from "le Bac" car was sold new at Paris and has most of the options, a shame, some parts are gone, like the steering wheel, the shifter Knob, seat's and "LSD" because this one was broken back in the early 90's.
I 'm missing:
-dash ID plate
-LDS
-backing plate
-front grill plate
-engine main exaust collector
-steering wheel
shifter knob
I still have:
-2316cc C1/1 engine 160BHP
-5 speed sport gear box
-15" rim's
-stabi and sway barres
-bilsteins suspension
-shorter springs
-extra Gas tank
-260k speedo with rpm meter with red niddle or arrow
by the way, any idea were I could find the missing parts mostly the LSD and badges?
I've just dropped out the Second additionnel Gas tank... (alpina option...) Need to check all lines, it stinks petrol in the car when you add and start to fill up the second tank
The smell?, check the brether return pipe, its causing a blow back of fumes as it could be blocked, i changed all my tanks under the car and my fuel external tank in the boot still sits there bolted down tight!
I personally think the Garage Du Bac is alpinas best franchise alpina builder from alpina itself... here we have Sytner which are totally F-----G shit, every car they build with alpina stamped on it went back to the garage with engine problems.... before sytner here in england we had TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) who was an ex BMW county Driver and raced E12 and E21 323/C1 his workshop was the best as all his cars came out with the full stripes/LSD/Spoiler/Seats and plaque build number, but then there were no money to be made in alpinas back then so he dropped the franchise .... so TWR switched to Jaguar racing.... and modifications....
I see you need loads of bits for your car.... loooong process and money....
I noticed also you have a 323i exhaust system on your car too... with the 323i boot badge....
that's clear, I've got some work, some stuff are missing or has been modified, but for 800€ with the amount of parts given with it, that's rather correct, all brakes, wheels bearing, steering system, tie road and ball joints are totaly new it's not too bad. I've got extra alpina rim's and other stuff. I will have to do with it and sort it out...
for that kind of money you had a bargain, i have a frend who has got a frontspoiler, backspoiler, interieur and steeringwheel for sale
it is not cheap, but it is worth a look for you even if you have to come from france.
really nice looking car you have, and if you restore it correctly it will be worth 18x as much if you can proof it is a alpina, the C1 is much harder to find than the B6 these days.
