Well that was the 323 now for a couple of the 316, this has a lot better body so will become a 323, i think i prefer the colour too.

The Tomato soup 323 is nearly completely stripped now, and the bodyshell will be go to the scrappers soon.

Soon i'll be stripping the 316 getting rid of the parts and useing the shell...

A little bit more progress this weekend.

Engines are out both the 316 (helped by herrblinkning) and the 323.

When I took the Speedo cable out a few 'extra' bits fell out with it.. is this going to cause me problems later, or can i simply push them back in???

Should all be really good when you're done. Didn't realise that the 323 had good bits like the half leather Recaros. Does this mean the original owner ticked the box for an LSD too...

Hi olivewoo, dont if it was you i spoke to before (brain dead) as regards to rubber seals on the drivers side and passenger side of the doors. the rubber that goes across the door to stop water from dripping down the window into the door itself, i can take a picture and post to show exactly what i mean...

OK, thanks for your help, the gearbox is all in and sorted, runs quite nicely. It's happy to select all the gears and no odd noises.

I looked on the DVLA website (here) and it does look like a second hand body change will give you a Q-plate. But if you juusst change the engine on 316 to make it a 323i, then you should be able to have to logbook changed to represent it.

Herrblinkning, i think i will be stuck with the identity of the 316, even if i do up date the dvla with engine size the model will still say 316 rather than 323..

bit of a shame really, but i can't see any alternative. does anyone have any experience with this????
