My two 323i JPS

Post by Ski75o8 »

Hi There,

Thought I would jump on and share some pictures of my e21 323i JPS models. The first one is in full original condition with the numbers and paperwork to match. It has been restored to original condition with only minor changes. It has factory stroker engine and 5 speed gearbox.

The second was a donor car but is still worth mentioning as I am wondering what to do with it now. There is no point taking it back to original the cost would just be too high. It is a genuine JPS model but someone has butchered it a little bit by adding side skits and an Apline front spoiler. The engine is completely seized, has the factory recaro race seats in pretty good condition, the bonnet is shot and the roof has a few holes. The fuel tank and floor of the boot are completely rusted out.

I am wondering if anyone would be able to suggest any decent engine swaps I should look for. My plan is to get it sand blasted fix up the holes, remove the fuel tank and put a fuel cell, roll cage harness' and turn it into more of a track car.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome! I dont know the John Player Specials, never seen one, as they only featured in Australia. Where are you from, in Australia?

Overhere in Europe the rare and (near) mint condition e21 323i's are pretty pricy, so if that was a european edition, I would defo restore it. But it's not. So for a funcar, I would toss in a s54, but it's a lot of building work. User Jeremye21m3 has done it. But overthere a turbo charged subaru impreza engine is more easy to source, I guess? It'll by nothing less than pure blasphemy, but also loads of fun!!
It's the man next door!

Yeah I wish we got these JPS editions, love them! So for starters, cherish your original example!
BTW some background info on the JPS models on our limited editions page: https://www.bmwe21.net/?page_id=137

I can imagine it will both be costly and difficult to get #2 back to original, also have no idea of the value over there. But on a bit of a budget, I'd throw in a M52B28, one of the strongest six inlines BMW ever made, and enough of them around now many E36, E39 and E46 models end up at the wreckers.
