Quick steering

Post by 7800rpm »

Hi Jeroen, this message is for you.
I've read the improvement to your car and they match my idea about mine.
First of all, the quick steering...
you said M3, my question is, you took it from an E30? If so, you bought it used? which parts i have to look for to get my steering more precise and quick?

Thanks

All you need is a different rack. The E30 M3 quick rack has the same connections so it's a straight swap.

If you have trouble locating one at a reasonable price, take an E36 rack as it has nearly the same ratio and also has the same connections. Use your old tie rod ends. The only thing is that the E36 rack is slightly thinner, but that can be solved with a few steel rings.

The E36 racks all have the same ratio except for the Euro 3.0 M3 version that has an even quicker rack. But that one is probably as hard to find as an E30 M3 rack.
