When you help out a guy in Tesco's car park with a non-starting, M20-engined E34 520i who's been trying to start it for nearly an hour, only to tell him in 5 minutes his fuel pump relay has packed up and you happened to have a spare in your boot to lend him.

The AA don't usually do that - good stuff!

You know you drive an E21 when....whenever you go faster than a newer BMW, the driver (of the other BMW) gets pissed off, as he/she would expect an older BMW be slower than a newer one...!!! (and this has happened to me even in cases when the newer BMW's condition requires to break it for parts...!! they just can't understand it!!!!)

+ 1; happened to me last night in the streaming rain on a dark country road, then at several points on the M40 - with BMs and other cars.
Hey, if drivers can't drive properly in the wet with all of their driver aids and drive 20mph
under the speed limit and get shown up by a near 30 year old car with supposed tail-happy handling, perhaps they should stay at home, poor diddums.

...when you're telling the numptys at Hexagon how to do their job:
'Hi, can I order four motorsport wheel stickers?'
'Er, what are those?'
You know, the old motorsport badge?'
'What do they look like?'
I then had to google an image of said badge to show him what it looked like. Two days later I go to collect the stickers only to find they've ordered... four WHEEL CAPS.
Worst. BMW dealer. EVER. The myth of BMW dealer's parts dept being the best at what they do is gone; I swear the staff are trained by Halfrauds!

soon, you will be knowing you drive an E21 when you ask some BMW official service for a simple oil change and you 'll be getting the answer: "What car is that one you have there? I see it has BMW badges on it..."
