Do normal E36's and E36 M3's have the same cables? Or is there some advantage of the M3 one?

All E36 thru the range should be the same, any different just dont make sence at all!!! and make sure you get the battery box because if you have the battery running lose at the back and get caught by the cozzers you will get a fine, and batt leakage happens and you get shunted at the back a fire will explode your boot lid off....  can you imagine.... BOOOOOOOOOM.. not nice.

Haha no boom boom for me! I'll either get the plastic or the alloy one.. not sure yet, prob plastic one so can protect from any leaks that may appear one day..

Prob gonna go for these wires below. Spoke to the seller he'll send them out for £25 posted, which was the same that my local scrappy wanted, but I'd have to pull the wire out myself (which is a b*tch).

And gonna go for one of these boxes.. will order it all up today to avoid the Christmas postage scramble.

I was lucky...I got a proper BMW relocation kit from Ebay for £30 with the tray etc. In fact, i might have the tray somewhere as my battery is fitted to the centre of my rear strut brace.

Quick update..

Wiring is now complete, brakes were bled, clutch was bled, battery has been relocated to the boot, air filter has been fitted, car starts runs and drives too.. so far so good..

However.. we had a couple of issues which stopped me driving the motor home last night (we won't mention the main reason why though will we Tommi? )

1) There seems to be a rattling sound from the top end of the engine. We took off the rocker cover had a poke around and couldn't find the cause of the noise. It's a mettalic noise like a bolt is loose or something and only rattles at about 2-3,000 rpm, any thing lower or higher and you don't really hear the noise, also when driving the moment you take your foot off the gas you hear this noise. After some googling sounds like it could be coming from the water pump, cam belt or tensioner. Any other ideas of what it could be? :? Oh also this noise was not here on the E30 before the engine conversion.

Tommi if you get the chance could you take a video clip of the noise (via Hannah's phone or camera maybe?) and post it up? May help with diagnosis.

2) There was also an issue with the gear shift, it seemed to be very notchy going into certain gears and didn't really want to go in to gear very smoothly, no idea what it could be?

If you can get a video up it will definately help but if it only happens at certain revs it might be caused by vibration? A bracket or loose bolt being the likely culprit.

As for gear linkage. Did you try and modify it in any way? Might be where one of the bushes has broken down and is stopping the linkage moving freely? Jimmy is your man as he's done a few short-shift conversions.

Nah no modifications to the gear box just went back in as is, wanted to see how everything worked before any modifications. The gear box will be sorted I'm sure I'm more worried about the noise from the engine to be honest. I'll try to get a video up if possible.

the gear box will be that issue that i pointed out when we were putting it into the car mate ...

part one is snapped and only held together by the rubber so will be moving around too much and giving you slack in the shift which would make it feel funny
