Although not necessarily that dear; the only other thing that would benefit an M20 would be stroking to 3.0 litres (possible with the right factory parts) and an ECU such as Emerald/Megasquirt with the requisite mapping - would be interesting if you could get one to 250bhp NASP.
I've got the block/pistons and rods - just need a decent M54B30 crank. It's not something I'm doing soon, due to the possibilty of getting my hands on a decent lump from someone else, but might do it as a side project and put in in the BOL.

Depends what you call not that expensive. Omex was going to be about £750 - 800 plus £500+ for mapping. That doesn't factor in the other bits like bigger injectors etc. If I were keeping it M20'd I would be going to see Paul Sheppard @ Castle Coombe and going for a Dastec unichip and live map. Even just that is best part of £600 plus cost of staying down there for a couple of days, fuel etc.
Anyway, engine is going to be coming out after Bimmerflex Classic on 15th so let me know if you want it or will go to next in line. In fact, if you want to whip it out yourself I'll knock a bit off?

We'll talk more about the details on Saturday, but surely once I look over it I'm not gonna say no, fingers crossed. Whipping it out (oo-er), shouldn't be that hard. Just depends where & when.

Wherever is easiest for you really? I'd like to clean up the engine bay & fit the powder coated brackets & tinware. I can just get it transported up to sunny Sheffield.

If you can come down to the bunker in Slough, I've also got an engine crane and pressure washer (handy for degreasing mucky engine bays). That way, you can get it transported straight from there to Sheffield. If we start early, lifting the engine out surely can't be more than a 2-3 hour job, leaving plenty of time to do prep. Getting MIB from there to Sheffield would take about 3hrs or so, I would think.

That sounds do'able. I had a kind offer of trailer use and can hire the transit I used on the sprint.

Not the same guy, he's too busy doing run of the mill fab work.

I had this sump modified by bogg brothers - you may have heard of them.

I redesigned the sump, its now obviously got a better plug placement. The wing has a better baffle and the pickup is more exact as I supplied a spare oil pump. The wing is slightly wider but less high this allows less of a struggle doing the bolts.

It was also half what I paid last year from the local boy.

Murran, don't worry, when I get round to my 2.8 swap ill be getting mine re- done. I've learnt lessons, I was very specific about the sump plug this time, last time the fabrication guy just welded it where he felt like.

Thursday is the day the old M20 comes out! Then, with luck, it'll be going up north on the Sunday via transporter to Mr Nas' house.

M3gaz and myself won a cheap rosette & a medal in the Bimmerflex Classic show & shine. Was also given a Meguires ''gift pack'' which consisted of a leaflet and a carrier bag. Lucky me.
