First time I've driven an E21 on the road in 4 years, and first time this car has been on the road for at least 6... It flew through it's MOT with no advisories!

Pulled out the broken engine at the weekend.

And fitted a standard ish 325i engine, its all in and running just needs a remap. Which is happening 14th March.

Today I removed all the bits of trim that had been chucked in the car and put it all out of the way on my racking. Then I removed the seats. I did more sanding and priming of the doors and rear arches. Before setting off for the workshop I drilled out the spot welds holding the boot side panel protecting brackety thing in the slug, took the bit to the workshop and welded it in to the Baur. The floor was a bit thin under it, so there's going to be a couple of spots where holes are filled with seam sealer rather than metal (drill sized). Then I did a bit of sanding of the door handles and baur side panel things.

Finally I had a chat to Shaun about painting the car next week.

Progress!

Had camshaft oil seals replaced and re-routed breather hoses to catch tank on inner wing. Cleaned engine bay and went for a test drive to check everything is as it should be.

so my car was running like poo when I got it. was told that there was a vacuum leak and that would fix the problem. turns out that the timing was way off and the idle screw was cranked up to make it seem driveable. I adjusted the timing, turned down idle screw, replaced +ve battery cable, replaced spark plugs and oxygen sensor. Runs a lot better, but not perfect yet. slowly but surely.

went on a drift day on sunday at blyton airfield. gave the car a good thrashing, killed 4 tyres and got it really dirty.
also put a man sized dint in the n/s sill while sliding thru several cones. that bit im not so pleased about!

today i picked up some vw corrado bbs wheels to fit on the back at driftdays and started stripping the old paint off my (soon to be fitted) rollcage.
