As others have said, Janspeed are a waste of time. Shame really as they used to be a good company with a great reputation. Not any more though.

Yeah, I know Jimmy. I just can't be arsed to wait about on the off chance. These guys were bang on and if you look at their website you can see the sort of stuff they do. If I'm honest, I think they're likely to be quite a bit more expensive than the off the shelf stores but you never know till you ask.

I've heard so many different things when it come's to which oil that am just unsure which is best?
Mobil1 was the obvious choice although my own experience of it in my old RS2000 wasn't a good one.
I know most engine wear occurs on start up from cold but when it gets to the decent mid ranged oil is there really much benefit in opting for the much more expensive?
Just interested to know what oils the rest of you use and will probably just opt for the most popular.

Mark, no point at all putting synthetic mobil 1 0w oil unless you know your car has been rebuilt, pistons rings and nut and bolt, when i rebuilt my engine the block was in bits - crankshaft, bearings, crank seals i mean it was like lego and i rebuikt it completely with everything new!!! including the head, new vales, rockers, schrick cam and double springs.. then i used the mobile 1 oil and slolwy resorted to magnatec semi which is good shit, but if you dont know the history of your engine i wouldnt take chances with synthetic cos if the mileage of your engine ... it can burn oil as mobile 1 0w is like water..... stick to castrol GTX which all rounder is good!!!!

Halfords were selling regular Mobil engine oil for £15 for 5 litres so that's what I opted for. Spent the past twenty minutes doing an oil change and having a look at the windscreen wiper linkage with a view to doing the single wiper conversion.
I think that I am going to remove the pivot arm from the wiper motor and either hunt for a longer one or possibly extend another standard one? I'm thinking that if I slot the arm I can slide it along till I get the correct increase in sweep? I think that should work anyway?
I'm also looking for a wiper that looks a little more substantial than the original and also looks a little more trick too. New Golfs have quite nice looking wipers and the one from a rear tailgate is also more angled which could be an advantage?
I also changed the brake and clutch fluid for DOT 5 stuff. Very tedious job but at least I now know the fluid is clean & fresh. Along with that I drained and re-filled the coolant with anti-freeze. Mainly because I wanted to be sure it was as it should be now that winter is coming. I also plan to change the fluid in the LSD but that will have to wait till the end of the month.
Got pulled up by the Police in Ladbroke Grove yesterday.
Well embarrassed and I had Claire in the car too. Police were loving the negative camber on the back and just wanted to have a look. They said my number plates are illegal but as they look good they let me off!
Priceless.

This isn't my actual system - just one that I would like to mimic. However, I am also thinking of straight 3'' centre pipe sections running to twin silencers with 2.75'' tailpipes.
The guys that are doing my car next Wednesday are -
www.christullettexhausts.com
Each system they do is bespoke so means they would need to see your car but I think a regular system is around £600 plus once you add VAT.
I'll know more next week and post photos etc. My car should be back either Thursday night or Friday morning.
