I won't be lowering it, although looking at Steen's I can see the appeal. That car is stunning! I guess my next job (if I ever ger round to this) is to do something about the driver's seat. It's quite worn and sags a bit ..

I'm always looking for an identical seat in good condition .. that could be a long time comming. I've got a pair of black Recaros in the garage. I could get those retrimmed, but then I'd have to get the rear seats/head-rests retrimmed as well for the whole thing to match-up! I don't really want to do this as I like the original interior. So the search for a 'new' driver's seat continues...

Jules,

Your car is beautiful. The interior is perfect for the exterior color.

Good luck getting everything to your liking. Hard to believe this body design dates from the 70's.

Best, Mike

Jules wrote:Wow, thanks guys. Forgot to mention, that steering wheel has always been in the car. I'm led to believe it's a 2002 turbo steering wheel. Maybe it was a factory option or a special request by the first owner?? I don't know but the regular 'sports' steering wheel is slightly different for the E21??
I've got the same steering wheel, it is indeed a 2002 turbo wheel. Looks a lot like the e21 sports wheel, but without sky on the spokes. Here it is in it's natural habitat: http://www.bmwworld.com/pics/vintage/20 ... o_dash.jpg

The disappointing sales of the turbo probably left them with a lot of spares :)

Hey Jules, as for your drivers seat...

It really shouldn't be that hard to find a proper replacement. You've just gotta find one from Continental Europe where the cars are lhd. This makes the right hand side seat the passenger seat - which is usually less worn than the drivers seat and therefore easier to find...

Likewise, if I needed a better drivers seat for my E21, I'd be looking for a passanger seat out of a UK rhd car...

Good luck with your search!! :D

Class, I never thought of that. Maybe a tour of Euro scrap-yards for next year's holiday :D If anyone closer to home is reading, I would swap a pair of front Recaros (black) for a pair of front originals in my type. What are the chances of that
